Idols, DWTS pros visit Orphanage in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

DWTS pro Louis Van Amstel tweets, “Now we r gonna stop by the Casa Hogar orphanage. My friend Ted Hannig had his local church in Redwood city donate 2500 dollars…Michael Johns is singing is heart out for the orphans…”

Louis, plus a slew of DWTS dancers and Idols Michael Johns, Melinda Doolittle and Rickey Smith performed a concert at a Cabo San Lucas resort New Year’s Eve.

St. Petersburg’s ‘First Night’ sparkles into 2011

Thousands turned out for the outdoor party Friday night that included fireworks, music and a performance by American Idol finalist and St. Petersburg native Michael Lynche.

St. Petersburg Mayor Bill Foster introduced Lynche at the First Night Finale Stage in North Straub Park, capping off a full night of fun on 25 stages throughout downtown.

“For the past 17 years First Night has been a fantastic way to ring in the new year, ” said Foster. “This year having Mike Lynche, our hometown Idol, sing us into 2011 makes the celebration that much more special.”

X Factor: Simon Cowell signs off €1million budget to make Mary Byrne a global star

Mary Byrne was ecstatic last night after Simon Cowell phoned from Barbados – to give her a €1million record deal.

The mega investment is set to make the X Factor star, 51, one of his biggest stars.

Cowell spent most of New Year’s Eve on the phone from his Carribean holiday home to plan Dubliner Mary’s future.

A source close to the former Tesco check-out girl said: “Simon thinks there’s a huge gap in the market for her.”

And it could pave the way, whisper it, to a full-blown wedding.

Yep, 18 months after getting together, and almost a year after he got down on one slightly creaking knee, Si has let Mish share his space.

Before you can “happy new year”, the American make-up artist has sorted out her visa and is preparing to move into Simon’s West London mansion. The multi-millionaire mogul has told pals Mish will move in at the end of next month… on a trial basis.

Come on, come on, Take That… and party! Gary Barlow and co. perform energetic set at private event in Barbados

Tickets for their tour sold out in a matter of hours when they went on sale late last year.

But on Wednesday night a select group of fans were treated to an exclusive performance from the man band as they took to the stage for a 35-minute set at Simon Cowell’s private pre-New Year party in Barbados.

Gary Barlow, Mark Owen, Howard Donald and Jason Orange performed hits including Back For Good and Pray, although one member was noticeably absent in the form of Robbie Williams, who was seeing in 2011 with wife Ayda in Los Angeles.
