HDD – Album Sales Prediction : Apr 15-21

With 52.57% of reports in, Fall Out Boy look like they may have the number one album. That’s pretty impressive considering that “Save Rock and Roll” is coming out almost 5 years after their last album. Five years is a long time in the life of artists on the Pop chart and their style of emo-ish rock isn’t as popular as it once was. Giving them a run for their money will be rapper Kid Cudi who is right behind them and is predicted to sell in the same 150K-ish range.

Justin Timberlake is holding steady at 3rd, Voice Judge Blake Shelton moves up a notch to 4th, The Band Perry is at 5th, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis who should have more than $20 in their bank accounts are at 6th, Yeah Yeah Yeahs are debuting in 7th, Florida Georgia Line is 8th and Paramore moves down from 1st to 9th this week.

Our top selling reality singing show contestant this week is X-Factor’s (UK franchise) Olly Murs. He is rounding out the top 10 by debuting in 10th. While this is his third studio album and he has had a lot of success in the UK (all three albums have sold more than platinum and peaking at 2, 1 and 1 respectively), this is his first serious release in the US. He seems set to exceed the predicted sales from HDD and BB last week.

After Olly, it’s a long drop down to 33rd to Carrie Underwood’s “Blown Away”. Kelly Clarkson’s “Greatest Hits” are at 37th followed directly by Phil Phillips at 38th. One Direction climbs back onto the chart 45th. Now 45 features Kelly, One Direction and Phil. It is at 30th.
