With 70.38%, Jack White is coasting to an easy victory on the top of the albums chart. This is his second number one solo album since splitting up the White Stripes (with Meg White his ex-wife). “Blunderbus” was released in April 2012 and sold 138K. “Lazaretto” is predicted to sell in the 110-120K range. He’s considered one of the best guitarists working these days and has a pretty loyal following.
Nashville Star’s Miranda Lambert drops to second in her second week. Meanwhile, as predicted, the latest YA movie Soundtrack (The Fault in our Stars) climbs in its second week to number 3. There must be somebody uber-cool in Hollywood who is putting these soundtracks together. Speaking of soundtracks, our old friend “Frozen” is at number 4. Coldplay is 5th in their 4th week and Brantley Giblert is stuck to them like glue and is one spot behind them.
Now 50 (deluxe version features Idols Kelly Clarkson and Carly Rae Jepsen) is 7th, Luke Bryan is a selling machine at 8th (I suspect I type his name as being in the top 10 at least 50% of the time for the last two years), Passenger (you know, the cute commercial with the Budweiser puppy and then the song became huge) is 9th. Finally, at 10th are the Black Keyes to whom Jack White previously apologized nicely book-ending the top 10 this week.
Phillip Phillips is representing Idol in his fourth week. “Behind the Light” is 42nd. Blake represents the judges from the Voice at 25th.
HDD is predicting 3 albums selling +100K for the first time this year next week.
