With 54.50% of reports in, sitting at the top of the chart are the Queens of Stone Age – an alt rock band out of Palm Desert, California. They’ve been around since 1996. Some may remember the lead vocalist was part of Them Crooked Vultures with Paul Jones and Dave Grohl. Anyway, they are expected to sell 80-85K.
Not too far behind them are Sleeping with Sirens. I have never heard of them. Not only have I never heard of them, I’ve never even heard of their format before. Post-hardcore. You know, sometimes I think there are too many “rock” sub-formats. No wonder the market is so splintered. I know, post-hardcore is probably the latest thing and I live in a box. The box is round. I sleep in the corner.
Daft Punk, who has topped the chart for 2 weeks move down to third. Three country acts then follow: Blake Shelton from the Voice, Darius Rucker from Hootie and the Blowfish and Florida Georgia Line from Scott Borchetta’s stable of acts. Imagine Dragons are 7th, former Mouseketeer Justin is 8th and the Great Gatsby is doing great at 9th (I wonder if people just have that album on the shelf with the pages uncut?).
Finally, rounding out the top 10 is Now 46 featuring Olly and One D. Now 45 is 48th featuring Kelly, One D and Phillip Phillips.
Little Mix tops the reality singing show contestants as they slide from 4th down to 19th. Fantasia is the only other representative hanging in there at 44th.
