HDD – Album Sales Prediction : Aug 20-26

With 54.98% of reports in, Treyz Songz, a guy I obviously know nothing about, tops the chart. I have from good authority that he is an R&B singer whose bad singing is offset by his penchant for doing it shirtless. Despite what some deranged fan determined to puff up his resume on wiki claims, he cannot credibly claim to be either a rapper or an actor.

Now 43 (those popular compilation albums) is in 2nd (number 1 three weeks ago). This album features Carly Rae Jepsen, One Direction, Cher Lloyd, XF US judge Demi Lovato and Voice judge Adam Levine. Now 42 is 43rd with tracks from Kelly Clarkson and One Direction. Voice judge Blake Shelton appears on Now Country 5 at 46th.

Rappers represent (or at least wiki claims they are rappers and I’m not having much luck trusting wiki today) with last week’s top charter 2 Chainz at third, DJ Khaled debuting at 4th and Rick Ross (what an improbable rapper’s name that is – he’s probably some Jazz dude – I better check on him) who topped the chart 4 weeks ago is at 10th.

Justin Bieber (who is one of the mentors for this season of X-Factor and publicly supports Adam Levine’s team on The Voice) is 5th, Owl City debuts debuts at 6th (fueled by “Good Time” which features Canadian Idol Carly Rae Jepsen), Maroon 5 (featuring Voice judge Adam Levine is 7th), Dustin Lynch (who has no reality show connection I can find) debuts at 9th, Adele (who we talk about a lot) finishes out the top 10.

UK X-Factor’s One Direction is in 11th with “Up All Night”. Kelly Clarkson’s “Stronger” is at 18th and she appears on Jason Aldean’s album at 50th. “Blown Away” from Carrie Underwood is at 20th. Finally, the “Sparkle” soundtrack features season 6 winner Jordin Sparks and is currently at 24th.
