HDD – Album Sales Prediction : Sep 5-11

Well, it looks like somebody is back from vacation because we are back to getting 50+% of the market reporting in on Monday. And that means we also have a solo Idol appearing on the HDD charts prior to the final chart. With one of the Walmart distributors reporting in, Scotty’s EP of Idol songs is at 21st. Just ahead of it on the chart is Brad Paisley’s “This is Country Music” which features a duet with Carrie Underwood that was topping the Country airplay charts just a few weeks ago. Jason Aldean’s “My Kinda Party” also features a chart topping duet with Kelly Clarkson and the album is currently at number 7. Jackie Evancho from last season’s AGT is in 32nd.

Lil Wayne’s “Tha Carter IV” is selling significantly fewer albums this week, but it sold so many albums during its debut week that even with a massive drop in sales, it’s still comfortably in 1st place and selling numbers that others would love to have any week. Adele is a machine. I don’t know what more to say about her. Her album was released in February and with only 54.02% of the market reporting in, she is already over 100K. Record execs everywhere are stunned. Who knew that a talented singer who writes quality songs could be such a success? And a women at that who doesn’t go around performing in her underwear! Whatever happened, they will try to replicate the success. Hopefully, they will learn the right lessons.

George Strait is “Here for a Good Time” and has the highest debut of the week at third. Red Hot Chili Peppers are predicted to have a drop in sales in the normal range, but right now, that’s not looking like it’s going to happen. I guess people who buy their albums buy from vendors who do not report on the first day. Anyway, they are currently in a distant 4th. Jay-Z and Kanye team up for 5th, Now 39 is 6th, Luke Bryan is 8th, Beyonce is 9th and Luke Owen makes it 4 country artists in the top 10.
