This week’s HDD update is brought to you by the letter “M”.
With 62.68% of reports in, the top three albums are all from artists that start with the letter “M”. Last week’s chart topper looks to repeat with Mumford & Sons’ “Babel” out to a commanding lead. Currently, right behind the family Mumford is R&B artist Miguel. Muse is third but is predicted to close the deal for second. The latter two are battling out for top debut. P!nk is 4th while Little Big Town rounds out the top 5.
Currently in 6th is America’s Got Talent’s Jackie Evancho. This is her fourth release since 2010. Her first EP of Christmas songs sold more than 1 million copies. Right behind her is Canadian rockers Three Days Grace followed by No Doubt whose lead singer likes to dress Idol contestants up in cow inspired outfits. Adele is in 9th followed by DJ Drama.
UK XF 4th place finisher, Cher Lloyd is debuting in 12th while the lads who finished one spot in front of her, One Direction, continue to sell well (considering how long the album has been out) at 24th. Representing the Idol franchise is Carrie Underwood at 18th and Carly Rae Jepsen at 25th.
The Voice is, as usual, represented by the judges. First year winner (his words), Adam Levine, is the lead for Maroon 5 and their “Overexposed” is currently 22nd. Blake won the second year (his words) and his Christmas album is currently debuting at 47th. Christmas albums don’t really start moving those units until Black Friday (and then they move a lot). So, a low debut at this point doesn’t mean much.
Now 43 which features Carly Rae Jepsen, One Direction, Cher Lloyd, XF US judge Demi Lovato and Voice judge Adam Levine is in 14th.
No numbers are available for Chris Rene’s new album.
