HDD – Album Sales Prediction : Mar 25-31

With 54.98% of reports in, we are looking to have a very nice week in sales. Easter Week traditionally does well because people are snapping up small gifts in lieu of chocolate bunnies for their older kids/significant others/whatever.

Given that Justin Timberlake sold close to a million units last week, it’s not surprising that he is tapped to lead the chart again despite an almost 70% drop in sales. Look for him to finish with 300-325K in sales. The top debut of the week right now is Voice Judge Blake Shelton’s “Based on a True Story”. Country albums typically do better on the first day of reporting and urban albums on the second, so the album currently in third, Lil Wayne “I’m Not a Human Being” is predicted to be the top debut when the dust settles. Lil is predicted to sell 200-210K while Blake moves 180-190K

Alan Jackson is currently debuting in 4th, Bruno is 5th, Luke Bryan extends his spring break in 6th, Now 45 (featuring Kelly, One Direction and Phil) is in 7th, Thompson Square feels good debuting in 8th, Rihanna is 9th and One Republic rounds out the top 10. There are currently 5 albums debuting in the top 10 and 4 country albums.

Idols/X-Factorers are doing well this week. One Direction leads the charge at 16th followed directly by Kelly Clarkson at 17th. A skip behind is Phil still flying high since his Idol performance at 19th. A little way back is Carrie Underwood at 29th and Colton Dixon sees a post-Idol performance surge re-entering the top 50 at 49th. Idols also appear on Now 44 at 32 and Grammy Nominees at 36th (both feature Kelly Clarkson and Carly Rae Jepsen).
