If there was a theme song for this week’s HDD numbers, it would be a funeral dirge. Just when we thought we’d plumbed the depths of low selling charts, along comes the last week in January. On Thursday, HDD predicted a two way race for the lowest number 1 selling between Nicki Minaj and the Grammy CD, but Amos Lee and Mumford & Sons might make it a four way race. The Decemberists, who helped to lift the charts with their debut last week are currently at 5th.
And where or where are the Idols? Thinner on the ground this week than last. Adam’s “Whattaya Want From Me” track is on the 2011 Grammy Noms CD (4th) and Kelly Clarkson’s duet with Jason is on his “My Kind Of Party” CD (17th).
Still, only 32.74% of the market has reported, so things might get better?
This is the daily thread for numbers. Mission bell or death knell? You decide.
