Skylar Astin, star of the movie Pitch Perfect, is filming a guest starring role on Glee. Darren Criss instagrammed a photo of himself, Chord Overstreet and Skylar on set. “Me, @ChordOverstreet & @SkylarAstin… And a #DramaticSelfie for you all. So glad to have our buddy Skylar on #Glee!” Darren posted.
According to TV Line, Skyler will play Jean-Baptiste, the lead singer of Throat Explosion, New Directions’ competition at Nationals.
Skyler played a similar role in musical movie comedy, as a member of a college a cappella group. And he’s a long-time friend of Lea Michele, from their days staring in the Broadway musical, Spring Awakening.
In Episode 11, set to air March 11, New Directions finally heads to Nationals in Los Angeles. (Location shooting without the cost!) Appropriately, according to spoilers, the episode is titled “City of Angels.” Amber Riley, whose character Mercedes Jones has been living in LA trying to break into the music biz, will also appear in the episode.
