Fritz Hager: 1 Month Later, Still Begging for ‘Caroline’ Presaves

American Idol Fritz Hager
(ABC/Eric McCandless) FRITZ HAGER

After 4 weeks, Fritz Hager is STILL asking for fans to pre-save his song “Caroline.” In a social media post at the end of September, the American Idol season 20 second runner-up told fans that he could not release a song he REALLY REALLY wanted to release until he reached 15K pre-saves. He promised his followers that when “Caroline” reached the magic presave number, they could suggest tattoo ideas, and he’s choose one.

American Idol’s Fritz Hager is Still “Hoping to release my single”

On October 20, Fritz posted that “Caroline” had 10K presaves, and wrote “I went to LA to try and convince A&Rs to let me release this.”

“Making a music video for a song that doesn’t have a release date yet”

He begged fans some more in an October 21 post: “We’re so close to 15,000 presaves, let’s get there!” And then on October 27, he posted a photo of himself dressed in an 80s New Wave throwback reminiscent of power pop groups like The Knack. In the caption Fritz writes: “POV: making a music video for a song that doesn’t even have a release date yet.

Fritz shooting a video for “Caroline” means it’s probably coming out eventually. The “MUST HAVE 15K PRESAVES OR YOUR BOY DOESN’T RELEASE HIS SONG” deal is probably just marketing–a way to jack up the pre-saves.

Speaking of record labels. When the song is released, what entity would distribute it? The singer-songwriter from Texas hasn’t named any labels/distributors. So far it’s shadowy “Theys.” Having said that, Fritz appears to have a relationship with 19Recordings, the label arm of 19Entertainment, which co-produces American Idol. Fellow alums Francisco Martin, Casey Bishop, Noah Thompson, HunterGirl and more are under the 19Records/BMG umbrella.

ALSO! Fritz is heading out on the “Don’t Blink Tour” alongside fellow American Idol alums Jonny West (S18), Francisco Martin (S18) and Allegra Miles (S20). Tickets go on sale on Friday (Oct 28).

The 13 date tour kicks off on November 16 in Houston Texas and ends in San Francisco on December 14. Good luck with those pre-saves Fritz!
