There was a surprise guest at the end, when …American Idol winner David Cook came out to sing …The Time of My Life to the departing athletes, who high-fived members of the public as the medalists exited through the middle of the pavilion.
David Cook will appear on the season premier of the Oprah Winfrey Show, Monday September 8, according to FOX News:
It’s all about Oprah right now. The first news is that Oprah will tape her big Olympic special in Chicago on Wednesday with all the Olympians. “American Idol” winner David Cook is going to be the only musical performer on the show, which airs Sept. 8 and kicks off Oprah new season.
Oprah’s Olympic-themed show features 175 athletes and is taping today at the Pritzker Pavilion in Chicago Millennium Park.
Cook skipped the after-show party last night in Green Bay, WI so he could fly out to Chicago to tape the show today.
“Time of My Life” has managed to stay on the charts all summer, assisted by NBC using the song in their nightly re-caps during the Beijing Olympics. The little coronation song that could, “Time of My Life” will get yet another sales boost when David performs it on the mighty Oprah Winfrey Show.
It fell off of the Top 50 downloads chart this week, but look for it to possibly re-enter the Top 50 the week after his Oprah appearance…
Sidenote: I’m hearing that David Cook won’t be making a live appearance on next week’s charity telethon Stand Up To Cancer. He’s made a taped message that will be featured on the live broadcast…
