David Cook – iTunes App, Pre-Order Available – SNL Appearance 11/01

That new iTunes app featuring David Cook’s single, “Light On”, that I blogged about a few days ago is now available on iTunes.

Here’s how you find it: This link will take you to the iTunes front page. Click on “App store – New!” underneath “iTunes STORE” on the left. Once you get to the app store, click on “Music” underneath “Categories” on the left. You’ll see the app on the front page.

You can also get to it from your device–which by the way, needs to be 2nd generation in order for the app to work. My iPod touch doesn’t qualify. And I swear, even though I said the app was kind of pointless, I probably would have downloaded it anyway. Heh. Here’s some more information about the “Light On” app from the press release:

The interactive “Light On” App turns an iPhone or iPod touch into a “virtual” lighter while playing Cook’s single “Light On.” Using the iPhone’s unique technology, fans simply “flick” the iPhone or iPod touch and the flame goes out while the song fades out. The application also provides links to the iTunes Store to listen and buy Cook’s new hit single or pre-order his upcoming album. Additionally the application allows the user to send a message to a friend and links directly to DavidCookOfficial.com, where users can connect with each other.

The application appears to be a social networking device, as well as a fun little gadget. David isn’t alone. Pink, who just released a new album, also has an iTunes app for sale.

For one-stop shopping for all of David Cook’s iTunes music, click this link. You can download his singles, “Time of My Life” and “Light On” or pre-order his album, David Cook, due to drop November 18. A bonus track, “My Last Request, ” is available with pre-orders only.

One last item here. David will be the musical guest on Saturday Night Live this Saturday. It’s the last SNL before the presidential election on Tuesday, and it promises to be a huge show. Ben Affleck is hosting, and rumors abound that democratic candidate, Barack Obama, will be making an appearance.

Saturday will be the first television appearance for David and his newly-formed band. On Tuesday, they performed a dry-run impromptu gig at the Viper Room in LA. This was confirmed by keyboard/guitarist Andy Skib’s father on one of the fan boards. No word on how it went, but needless to say, this Saturday is going to be a major debut. Good luck to David and his band!

ETA: The second dry run will be when David and his band performs on the Wal-Mart soundcheck. You can watch that on Saturday before SNL.
