  1. Is this the beginning of a movement to have the winners of cover-singing competitions put out only covers? Give the people what they want?

  2. I doubt it. It’s likely a promo move to try to attract the fans of the artists who originally did the songs. People searching for a popular song on Youtube will also get covers of that song in their search results, so there’s a shot at putting Bradbery in front of people who are actively interested in new music — since unfortunately fans from singing shows don’t appear to be interested in buying, these days.

Sam Tsui (the dude who did the behind-the-scenes Idol thingie this past season) built his fame on doing creative covers on Youtube, and it’s a common strategy for all sorts of early-stage bands who write original material and don’t intend to remain cover bands.

  3. Well it’s about time these artists started utilizing youtube a bit more. Especially after competition.
People want to hear them sing, sounds like a great way to satisfy people to keep them for the long haul.

  4. Good to see more artists making use of youtube rather than going ghost mostly.

  5. I thought this was was an in-session with Vevo and they put it up.

  6. Her 2nd single, Young In America is in serious danger of going recurrent (in it’s 2nd negative week). It barely made Top 50 on both Mediabase & Billboard. IMO the label is releasing covers to satisfy the fans before releasing another album/new music. It’s possible the label isn’t releasing anymore singles from her debut album & these covers “to keep some buzz.”

  7. Ohhhh!!!! I love this! Can’t wait to see what she will do on the next one!

  8. I get that. I’m just wondering if this may happen more frequently with singing show winners. The label will figure that the public wants to hear covers, not originals, from them.

A number of X Factor UK winners put out albums consisting of all covers. Why not here too?

  9. I can see labels doing that or suggesting it. Adam Lambert & David Cook labels wanted to do an album of covers. They didn’t want to. The problem is these artists came from a talent show where they had to do covers. At a certain point, you don’t want to continue releasing/performing covers & want to do original material.

  10. Danielle has such a beautiful versatile voice. Love this cover! On utube she sings ‘Set Fire To The Rain’ and its another great cover by Danielle!!

  11. Hard song to song and pull off. She does, although I prefer the Christina version by far. Nice alternative, though.
