Tonight’s high score goes to Melissa and Tony’s Argentine Tango. Len gave them a 9 due to a minor blunder he caught, but 10s from Carrie Ann and Bruno gave them a total of 29. Shawn and Mark’s fun cha cha cha came in second with 28–they finally got their first 10. Despite Chuck’s constipated faces he and partner Julianne tied with Gilles and Cheryl for third place with a 27. Lil Kim’s reigned in rumba disappointed the judges somewhat–she and Derek only got a 26 this week. The judges thought Ty and Chelsie’s waltz was an improvement over last week’s jive giving them a 24. And, this week’s likely couple to be eliminated, Lawrence and Edyta got a 21 for their clumsy waltz.
Er. I’m totally screwed. My local Boston affiliate is preempting Dancing with the Stars to air a press conference regarding the Craigs List Killer’s arrest today.
Melissa and Tony – Argentine Tango – Missed the pre-dance video because of local news… Oh wow. This is pretty spectacular. Fantastic lifts. Len says, “Fantastic…series of intricate steps…lifts executed beautifully…I saw a tiny blunder.” Bruno says, “Your legs were like magic tubes in the hands of a master…stunning.” Carrie Ann says, “That was by far the best Argentine Tango we’ve seen so far.” Her scores are going to be off the hook. Lawrence and Edyta – Waltz – Edyta and Lawrence go golfing! Lawrence mocks Bruno. Har. Edyta is worried about Lawrence looking heavy and clumsy, but Lawrence says he’s going to get his smooth on. There were a few errors, but not bad. Bruno says, “You got the romance right…but then you started to turn, you got a little clumsy. Lil Kim and Derek – Rumba – Lil thinks she knows what the rumba is but…um…not really. Derek struggles to make the choreography entertaining and technical. The dance–slow burn, baby. Very hot. Chuck and Julianne – Samba – Julianne is focusing on the technique this week. Chuck will not let his fans down. Did Chuck just grab Julianne’s boobs? Chuck never looks like he’s relaxed, he’s thinking of every single step. Len says, “I liked it a lot! Ty and Chelsie – Waltz – Ty says he’s good at holding on. Jewel come to visit the rehearsal. Aw Ty sure is cute even if he isn’t a great dancer. Bruno says, “Ty, now you’re back in the game. Well done.” Carrie Ann says, “You were such a beautiful frame for your dancer….great posture, hold…welcome back.” Len says “More rise and fall than a brides nightie (lol)…well done.” Ty’s posture helps him in the slow ballroom dances where he excels. Shawn and Mark – Cha cha cha – Shawn spent the week accepting awards, so not much time for rehearsal. Without makeup, Shawn looks like a little kid. The song is “PYT” and a few MJ steps are thrown in. Despite not rehearsing, that was pretty good. Carrie Ann says, “You have such flawless technique…tonight it came to life.” Len says, “I thought you blended the precision and rhythm.” Bruno says, “My cheeky little devil, it was like watching a young Debbie Reynolds all flamboyant and vibrant.” Carrie Ann – 9, Len -9, Bruno – 10 – 28. Gilles and Cheryl – Viennese Waltz – Gilles is having a hard time softening up his style. Very smooth and sexy. Len says, “I loved the way you worked the nuances…overall it was superb job.” Bruno says, , “Like watching Leslie Caron in Gigi…so glamorous.” Carrie Ann says, “You are the most graceful dancer…” Then she tells him to watch his posture. The group dance has a 60’s theme. The dance features the mashed potatoes, the monkey and the alligator The pogo is the 7o’s pal. I was there. Everybody gets to pick their own 60’s move.
That group dance was a mish mash of weirdness. Bruno says, “Sublime sillyness.” Carrie Ann, “I thought the girls nailed it.” Len says, “This was fun, energy it took me back to clubbing in London.”
