Dancing With The Stars 15 – Week 3 – Recap and Videos

Tonight, The All Stars will be responsible for choreographing iconic routines from past seasons.  PLUS TWO MAJOR BOMBSHELL ANNOUNCEMENTS!  There will be a double elimination tomorrow.

NEXT WEEK: Paula Abdul will be a guest judge! Whoo hoo! Plus, the stars will choose routines for each other.

Lots of high scores this week. 27 for both Kelly and Melissa, the highest scores of the competition so far.  Derek and Shawn did a really fun quickstep. If they hadn’t broken so many rules, they would have scored higher. But it was the rules they broke (all of the gymnastics gimmicks) that made the routine so fun, so maybe not.

Going home this week. I think Drew Lachey may be in trouble this week.

Drew and Anna – Joey’s Cha cha from Season 1 – Drew wants to turn the dance into a concert. BIG PRODUCTION VALUES IS THE WAY TO GO, he says. This cha cha is comes by way of cheesy 70s disco with some 90s boy band moves thrown in for good measure. There’s  dollop of “Flash Dance” in there too.    Len says, “I liked the concept, the content, that was terrific.” Bruno compares it to “Magic Mike.” Cheryl Ann says, “your moves were tight and precise.”  Carrie Ann – 8 Len – 8 Bruno – 8 – 24 – 1-800-868-3408

Gilles and Peta – Erin and Maks Tango from Season 10 – Gilles does not want to recreate an iconic dance. He wants to be original.  He made sure not to pick a dance from the current cast.  He seems  a little irked that his Foxtrot will be re-imagined tonight by Apolo. Oh wow. Gilles is lifted out of bed by a harness thingy.  Pretty cool. HE’S HAVING A DREAM Y’ALL. Gilles is so hot and sexyyy. Bruno says, “I think you can fly in and out of any bed you choose. “50 shades of Gilles” You wobbled a little.”  Carrie Ann, “Your dramatic nuances were suburb, but I agree there were wobbles.”  Len says, “Your hold could have been better, but I liked the intensity.”  Wobbles? Didn’t notice the wobbles. Ha. – Carrie Ann – 8, Len – 8.5, Bruno – 8.5 – 25.5 –  1-800-868-3410

Melissa and Tony – JR Martinez Samba – Melissa was determined to push her skills to the edge, but parts of that complicated dance, with tricky samba rolls  looked kind of sloppy to me. Melissa looked nervous  Carrie Ann – “The samba rolls looked fantastic!” Len says, “That was like a can of cola, great technique. Knock out.” Bruno says, “Samba sensation, complicated but you did it like a star.” Hm. The judges loved it!  – Carrie Ann – 9 Len – 9 Bruno – 9 – 27 – Highest score so far this season – 1-800-868-3406

Apolo and Karina – Gilles Foxtrot – He wants to emulate Gilles sexiness. Good luck with that! The pair dance around living Greek statues. The look is black and white and very classic, but I found my eyes wandering to Karina through the entire performance. Len says, “I would have liked cleaner feet but a terrific dance. Bruno says, “Sensual classy, exquisite.” Carrie Ann, “I thought that was one of the memorable dances of the night. It was all right there.”  Carrie Ann – 9, Len – 8, Bruno – 8.5 – 25.5 – 1-800-868-3407

Kelly and Val – Maks Paso Doble from Season 4 –  She had the week off from General Hospital so she could THROW herself into playing creative director. Oh. We’re setting up  a little sibling rivalry here. Ohhh. OK. That was pretty fierce!  Kelly was fantastic! Tons of chemistry between the two. Bruno says, “Defining performance, we saw the dance, the actress. I am tingling with pleasure.” Carrie Ann says, “You guys are the couple to watch. You smacked that Paso Doble’s butty.” Len says, “The focus you had…your arms were as expressive as your face. Kelly, where have you been?” – Carrie Ann – 9, Len – 9, Bruno – 9 – 27 – 1-800-868-3411

BOMBSHELL ANNOUNCEMENT – Paula Abdul Will be a GUEST JUDGE!!!! OMG

Kirstie and Max – Carson Kressley’s Cha Cha – What’s up with Maks hair? Oh right, he’s supposed to be Mick Jagger. He looks more like a Disco Tarzan. This performance is pretty lulzy, with Maks injecting Jagger moves into the Cha cha. There was no heavy lifting in that dance, but it was Kirstie’s best performance  so far. Carrie Ann says, “That was the most fun I’ve had all night. You best dance so far.” Len says, “I want the celebrities to be in charge every week. It was the whole package.” Bruno says, “I nearly bust a guest. He’s like an extra from Boogie Nights.”  Their best scores so far. Both were dancing around they were so excited. Carrie Ann –  8, Len –  8, Bruno – 8 – 24 – 1-800-868-3412

Sabrina and Louis Maks and Mel B’s Paso Doble – She was at the top of the leaderboard last week. They dedicated the dance to Sabrina after she was eliminated. She wants to do it justice.  Sabrina does NOT want to break any rules. She’s terrified of being eliminated. The judges like Sabrina more than I do. I’m with Carrie Ann, that was a little boring. Mostly well danced, but not very exciting.  Uh oh. Her strap broke! Len says, “It was full of risks and great technique. It was fabulous.”  Bruno says, “Maximum fire power a touch of scary spice. You are such a good dancer. Carrie Ann says, “I don’t feel like you brought anything new to the creative concept. But it was outstanding dancing.” Carrie Ann – 8.5, Len – 8.5, Bruno – 8.5 – 25.5 – 1-800-868-3403

Emmitt and Cheryl – Karina and Mario’s Paso Doble – Emmitt takes charge. He’s got ideas for everything including the lighting and the staging.  The pair face off in a bar with mariachis and patrons watching from the sidelines. There was supposed to be a donkey on stage, but it didn’t like the crowd.  Emmitt finishes with a running slide through Cheryl’s legs.  Emmitt is best when he has to exude strength or power. The Paso is perfect for him. Bruno says, “The raging bull is back. You were snarling! That’s the way to do it. Watch your shoulders.” Carrie Ann says, “You are a human torpedo. Your posture was fantastic.”  Len says “You scared the life out of me. You have presence. You dominiate the floor. I would have liked a little more finesse. – Carrie Ann – 8.5, Len – 8, Bruno – 8.5 – 25 –  1-800-868-3413

Helio and Chelsie –  Apolo and Julianne’s quickstep – Apolo drops by to visit. He’s honored that they picked his dance to recreate. Helio’s wearing a Zoot sut and pulling a million faces.  Oh noes. Helio  slipped on Chelsie’s dress and lost his footing. It throws him off for the rest of the dance. Carrie Ann says, “It was so good. I love when you do quickstep. But you stepped over her.” Len says, “This dance deserves to be back next week. It’s top notch.” Bruno says, “It started with a blast. After the little slip of the dress you lost timing.”  Carrie Ann 8.5, Len – 8.5, Bruno –  8.5 – 25.51-800-868-3404

2nd Bombshell – The pairs will pick dance styles for each other live on tomorrow’s results show.

Bristol and Mark – Joanna and Derek’s Paso Doble – Both were really upset about their low score last week. Bristol thinks he’s bummed that he doesn’t have a better dancer. Bristol begins to cry, she thinks like he’s acting like he wants to go home.  HE PROBABLY DOES AND WHO COULD BLAME HIM.  She walks out of rehearsal. Ohh. Weird. My station came back from break in the middle of their dance. But from what I can see now, we aren’t missing much. Bristol is a self-absorbed brat. PLEASE GO HOME NOW. Len says, “I thought you had plenty of attack. Easily your best dance.” Bruno says, “Get that aggression! Best dance to date.” Carrie Ann says, “I think you are proving yourself a worthy competitor.”  Carrie Ann – 7.5, Len – 7.5, Bruno – 7.5 – 22.5 – Their highest score in the competition so far. – 1-800-868-3409

Shawn and Derek – Helio’s Quickstep – Shawn wants to bring in a trampoline. They plan on breaking a lot of rules this week. They enter the stage flipping off of mini trampolines.  This is very energetic and full of gymnastics tricks.  Shawn takes a spectacular dive off the stairs into a crash mat. The judges are going to call them on the gimmicks. Bruno says “The incredibles! Spectacular! A classic. One of the best dances I’ve seen in 15 years.” Carrie Ann says, “You gave me happy feet! That was the best dance we’ve ever seen. I’ve got to slam you for breaking the rules.” Len says, “Your ability to interpret music into movement is fantastic. But I you have to lose a point for breaking the rules.”  Lots of booing! Carrie Ann – 9, Len – 8, Bruno –  9.5 – 26.5 – 1-800-868-3402
