Dancing With The Stars 11 – Week 8 – Performance

It’s time for Bristol Palin to go home. No, seriously. It really is. But I have a feeling it’s going to be Kurt Warner who hits the road instead. Sigh. Brandy and Jennifer are tied for first place with 57 points, but if you ask me, I think Brandy out-danced Jennifer tonight–and without whining!

Ugh, Jennifer’s story arc just bugs the crap out of me. She’s constantly whining about pain? How about shut up and dance…or go home? The crying and the whining is so manipulative…and distracting. That’s why I’m on TEAM BRANDY. Brandy can get a little emotional at times, but she’s usually not complaining.

The controversial “Instant Dance” ended up not being such a big deal after all, even though it did kinda trip up Bristol. And how ’bout that Maks/Carrie Ann smackdown! That was pretty awesome stuff. Carrie Ann needs to lighten up. Seriously.

Videos and Live Blog after the JUMP…

Dancing with the Stars is down to 5 couples! They face the toughest challenge yet! Instant Dances! Follow my live blog, will you?

Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer – Viennese Waltz – “Breath” – Kyle’s T shirt is blurred out. I wonder what was on it? Aw. Kyle looks so sweet in his suit! Very debonair. Nice job. His feet probably still suck, but his performance skills make up for it. Len says, “This week a gorgeous Orchid!” Bruno says, “We are all totally charmed by you. You got better…this is the way to win this. You’re a nice young man.” Carrie Ann says, “My crush on Kyle is back! The elegance was amazing, like you were dancing on a cloud.” – !-800-868-3403 Carrie Ann – 9, Len – 9, Bruno – 9 – 27 – VIDEO

The judges explain the “Instant Dance” round. The couples will know their style, but won’t know their music until minutes before they step on the stage. Len says this is closer to what a real dance competition is like.

Kyle and Lacey will dance the Jive to “Good Golly Miss Molly”. They have 45 minutes to practice.

Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough – Quickstep – “Let’s Face the Music and Dance” – After last week, Jennifer realized she has more left than she thought. Except, her knees give out during rehearsal. Seriously, this competition has become too much for her physically. Now she’s got tendinitis. Her dad Joel drops by to give her courage. So she decides to push through! Isn’t she brave? Am I the only one who is bugged by this story arc? And of course, she dances beautifully! The drugs must be good. Wow, never mind Jennifer–Derek was sensational! Bruno says, “It was like watching a classic Ginger Fred Astaire quickstep. You are capable of brilliance!” Carrie says, “There was a tiny mistep, but it was gorgeous.” Len says, “You faced the music and danced. It was great.” Carrie – 9, Len – 9, Bruno – 9 – 27. – 1-800-868-3411 – VIDEO

Jennifer and Derek will dance to “Waiting for a Girl Like You”. Jennifer claims to not know that song. Really?

Kurt Warner and Anna Trebunskaya – Waltz – “Take it to the Limit” – Kurt looks very elegant tonight! He’s not the greatest dancer, but he’s so likable, he’s fun to watch. Carrie Ann says, “Your like the Ken Doll of ballroom dance. Not at quite the same level as other people, but I see the determination and effort.” Len says, “There’s little technical things you have to work on, but the feeling of the dance was beautiful.” Bruno says, “I could see you thinking…but you’ve come a long way.” Carrie Ann – 8, Len – 8, Bruno – 8 – 241-800-868-3408 – VIDEO

Kurt and Anna’s song for the instant dance is “Hella Good” by No Doubt. Neither have ever heard the song before.

Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas – Argentine Tango – I think Bristol is ready to go home! So how about sending her there? Oh look. There’s Sarah Palin. Yippee. She’s still wooden and boring, but she’s got the choreography down this week. I think the judges will like this. She’s getting a standing O. Len says, “I thought the lifts were good, clean, lacked a bit of intensity.” Bruno says, “I thought you were mean and moody. You go in and out of the part. You’ve done well up til now.” Carrie Ann says, “I thought that was the most intensity we’ve ever seen from you. More energy in your legs. Your flicks were lackluster.” Carrie Ann – 8 Len – 8 Bruno – 8 – 241-800-868-3407 – VIDEO

Bristol and Mark’s song is “Mas Que Nada”

Brandy and Maks Chmerkovskiy – Waltz – Brandy is worried about getting eliminated. She’s dancing beutifully with NO DRAMA. TEAM BRANDY! Bruno says, “This was an exquisite interpretation of a song. You were totally immersed in the character. You danced beautifully.” Carrie Ann says, “The emotional quality was riveting. You have to watch your neck.” Len says, “I was overwhelmed by the whole performance.” Carrie Ann – 9, Len – 10, Bruno – 10 – 291-800-868-3406 – VIDEO

Brandy and Maks will dance to “Teenage Dream” by Katy Perry.

Instant Dance Round

Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer – Jive – “Good Golly Miss Molly” – Steve O comes by to do his Jackass thing. Kyle is DAMN ENTERTAINING TONIGHT. And not intimidated at all by the “instant dance”. He should get a high score for this. Len says, “You came out fun, high energy, I would have liked a little finesse, but I really enjoyed it.” Bruno says, “Top of the league for entertainment and creativity. You timing was unbelievable. I loved every second.” Carrie Ann says, “That was by far the most fun I’ve had as a viewer.” Carrie Ann – 10, Len – 9, Bruno 10 – 2956 – Intro Dance/Scores

Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough – Rumba – “Waiting for a Girl Like You” – Jennifer and Derek look beautiful out there. You’d never know Jennifer was in so much PAIN. Hm. Bruno says, Bruno says, “This was just breathtaking again…off balance in extension, but absolutely superb” Carrie Ann says, “There is nothing more beautiful to me than somebody claiming their power.” “I love the variations, that’s what makes great dancing, and that’s what we’ve just seen.” Carrie Ann – 10, Len – 10, Bruno – 10 – 3057 – VIDEO

Kurt Warner and Anna Trebunskaya – Cha cha cha – “Hella Good” – Kurts gigantic family comes by to visit. OMG. Kurt is comical. His facial expressions are cracking me up. He’s a total geek out there. Carrie Ann says, “Tonight you nailed every single beat. I’ve never seen you dance with such charisma.” Len says, “You fully focus and keep right on the beat. You’ve got to straighten your legs a bit.” Bruno says, “You went for it. The foot placement wasn’t perfect, but the performance was good.” – Carrie Ann – 8 -, Len – 8, Bruno – 8 – 2448. Kurt was hoping for a higher score than an 8. – VIDEO

Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas – Samba – “Mas Que Nada” – Bristol needs words! The counts are freaking her out. Bristol is back to clomping around the dance floor like a Clydesdale. She’s got no sizzle. Len says, “This is the most difficult, so many rhythm changes. I thought you coped well with that.” Bruno says, “You can shake it! Sometimes you just lost it.” Carrie Ann says, “Unfortunately you weren’t that connected to the music. It came in and out and off the beat.” Mark blames himself for a mistake they made. – Carrie Ann – 7, Len – 8, Bruno – 8 – 2347 – VIDEO

Brandy and Maks Chmerkovskiy – Cha cha cha – “Teenage Dream” – Brandy and Maks better get at least a couple of 10s for this SENSATIONAL performance. They’re getting a standing 0! Bruno says, “I love the fabulous performance, a truly fantastic night.” Carrie Ann says, “It took 4/8s to begin your choreography…Kurt did more dancing than you did.” Carrie Ann and Maks smackdown! Len says, “Full of flair, full of rhythm well done. I think Carrie Ann was quite right.” Carrie Ann – 9, Len – 9, Bruno – 10 – 28 – Maks is kinda pissed! – 57 – Intro/Dance Scores/MaksBitching
