Dancing With The Stars 11 – Week 6 – Performance

So I have a theory about Jennifer Gray and why her last two performances have slipped. I think she’s got some injuries that aren’t holding up very well.  I think she may be physically and emotionally hitting a wall.   I mean when Bristol Freaking Palin outscores you in a dance, when you were leading the board every week, you’ve got problems.

Derek and Jennifer gained some of the ground they lost with that disastrous paso that only earned them 20 points…they managed 9 points on the marathon.  It could have been so much worse.

Speaking of Bristol–she danced better this week and got some good critiques from the judges. She may not be going home yet.  Kurt and Anna could be in trouble, which is too bad because I think they were underscored and over-critiqued by the judges.

The new golden couple appears to be Brandy and Maks! If Jennifer gets her act together, we could have a real horse race here.

Funny how “Rock Week” didn’t feature many songs that were…you know…rock songs.  Throw in a few rock cliches like black leather and fake pyro, and suddenly it’s RAWK WEEK. Oy.

Idol crossover: Kyle and Lacey danced a Tango to Adam Lambert’s “If I Had You”.

Live blog and Videos after the JUMP…

It’s Rock Week on Dancing with the Stars this week. The 7 remaining couples will be RAWKING OUT! (Excuse me: HAHAHAHAHAHAHA)

OMG. Everyone is dressed in black and it’s the scary flames of hell in the background. This is going to be hilarious.

Oh, this week, we’re getting reviews of dances from past seasons. It’s the Top 10 dances as voted by us. I guess I didn’t get the memo on that. Sorry I didn’t blog that part. Maybe I’ll add the list later. The dancing isn’t going to start until 8:30.

1. Drew Lachey and Cheryl Burke, Season 2, Freestyle – Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy

Audrina Patridge and Tony Dovolani – Paso Doble – “Another One Bites the Dust” – I suppose the night will be full of cliched rock songs! Once again, Audrina can do the steps, but she’s stiff and personality-free. Len says, “You’ve got the potential to blow us away, but every week it lacks the character of the dance. You’ve got to work on that character.” Bruno says, “He’s right. You look scornful, you have to get to the next stage in the Latin.” Carrie Ann says, “The improvement that you’ve shown since week 1…it’s truly impressive. You lack the intention behind the movement.” – Carrie – 8 Bruno – 8 Len – 8 – 24 – Total – 321-800-868-3401IntroDance/Scores

Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer – Tango – “If I Had You” – Kyle’s brother helps him with his routine, for some reason. LOL at butchering an Adam Lambert song. Maybe Adam inspired Kyle–there’s a big improvement in his technique this week. Carrie Ann says, “You put a lot of work into this. You kept it going all the way through, your footwork so much better.” Bruno says, “The carriage was amazing this week.” “Len says, “I’m not going to sack you, I’m going to back you. YOu worked hard and the dance was much better. Your dance is performance driven. It was an improvement over last week.” – 1-800-868-3403 – Carrie Ann – 8, Len – 7, Bruno – 8 – 23 – Total – 30VIDEO (via GlamFan2011) – Intro/DanceScores

Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough – Paso Doble – “So What” – Hm. I feel underwhelmed by that Paso. I was kinda bored. They made some big mistakes. Carrie Ann says, “You’ve got to calm down, you’re out of control your leg came off the ground…it was a rough ride.” Len says, “What you got was the attack and aggression, but you lost a bit of the control.” Bruno says, “You got the rage right, then you lose the quality of movement. You have to balance the two. You’ve got to tone it down a little bit.” Carrie Ann – 6 Len – 7 Bruno – 7 – 20 – WHOA. – Total – 29 1-800-868-3411Intro/Dance/Scores

Rick Fox and Cheryl Burke – Tango – “You’ve Really Got Me” – Rick’s trying to look bad ass but looks constipated instead. Hm. He’s looks stiff and uncomfortable. I don’t know what the eff he did to his hair, but he looks pretty silly. Len says, “I thought you did an excellent job. well done.” Bruno says, “Well you definitely have attack, You need a little bit more romance.” Carrie says, “I think you did amazing, you balanced it perfectly. You sometimes get so stern, we lose the person behind Rick.” Carrie Ann – 8, Len – 8, Bruno – 8 – 24 – Total – 30 1-800-868-3404IntroDance/Scores

Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas – Tango – “According to Him” – Yes, Bristol still dances like she’s having an out of body experience, but at least it’s better than last week’s train wreck. Bruno says, “You’re all woman tonight. Best performance and best technique to date” Carrie Ann says, “That was ridiculously amazing.” Len says, “Last week a chimp…almost a champ. You have to maintain the hold in the Tango. Carrie Ann – 8, Len – 7 – Bruno – 8 – 23 – Total – 281-800-868-3407Intro/Dance/Scores

Kurt Warner and Anna Trebunskaya – Paso Doble – “Final Countdown” – Bret Michaels come to rehearsal to help out. The judges dissed him but I think Rick has improved a lot over the season. He’s full of personality and is fun to watch.Carrie Ann says, “It didn’t have a lot of polish. I admire your commitment to the character. It didn’t come together.” Len says, “It just didn’t come off. You looked awkward doing it.” Bruno says, “You had all that intensity going through it. All the lines were wrong.” – Carrie Ann – 6, Len – 6, Bruno – 6 – 18 – Total – 221-800-868-3408 Intro/Dance/Scores

Brandy and Maks Chmerkovskiy – Oh Noes. Brandy is crying. Again. – Tango – “I Need a Hero” – Brandy is killing it. She’s going to top the leader board this week, for sure. Brandy looks like she’s going to freak out. Len says, “You’re my hero Maks, you come out with adance full of aggression, instensity dance of the night. “That Tango really rocked.” “I had goosebumps all over my arms. There was something amazing. I did see a few tiny missteps, but very impressive.” Carrie Ann – 8 Len – 9 Bruno – 9 – 26 Total – 361-800-868-3406IntroDance/ScoresIntroDance

Next, it’s the Rock and Roll Marathon. All the couples will dance. The judges will eliminate each couple one by one. Kurt and Anna – 4, Bristol and Mark – 5, Rick and Cheryl – 6, Kyle and Lacey – 7, Audrina and Tony – 8, Jennifer and Derek – 9, Brandy and Maks – 10. The judges thought it was awesome! – IntroDance
