Dancing With The Stars 11 – Week 9 – Performance

Top score tonight went to  Jennifer and Derek. The duo earned with a PERFECT 60 out of 60, and now I’m back to believing Jennifer is the chosen one.

She had the perfect story arc:  Dirty Dancer returns to perform again,   obstacles and challenges in the form of injuries and intense emotion almost derails her, but then  in the end, she prevails!

Brandy and Maks, whom I thought had a decent shot at the crown, COULD be a surprise boot tomorrow night.

Because there seems to be no stopping Bristol Palin, who lives on no matter how she scores. And since her numbers were decent tonight, despite being at the bottom of the leaderboard with 53, she could have done enough to sneak into the final.

I think Kyle and Lacey have a good shot at advancing, because the pair are so likable.

Reminding viewers of that unfortunate fatal car accident Brandy was involved in a few years ago is probably not going to work in her favor…

Video and Live Blog after the JUMP…

It’s the Dancing with the Stars semi-finals! Four couples compete for a spot in next week’s finale!

Follow me as I live blog tonight’s show…

The first round includes a star solo. The second round features a ballroom dance the couple has yet to dance.

Brandy and Maks Chmerkovskiy – Paso Doble – I like this-it’s a cool modern twist on the Paso. Brandy is in it to win it. Fierce. Len says, “You came out 100%. A lot of aggression, a lot of attack.” Bruno says, “You definitely danced aggressively, some of the finesse went, but very strong.” Carrie Ann says, “Amazingly passionate, your upper body shapes were beautiful.” They dedicate the dance to anyone who has ever been bullied. – Carrie Ann – 9 Len – 9 Bruno – 9 – 271-800-868-3406VIDEO

Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough – Cha cha cha “Mercy” – For once, Jennifer isn’t crying or bitching or complaining about injuries. And she’s dancing really well. In fact, she’s back! Triumphant! What a story arc! Bet she gets some 10s. Bruno says, “That was a vibrant, sexy, cha cha cha. The execution was flawless.” Carrie Ann says, “I’ve been waiting all season to see Jennifer do a Cha cha by yourself and I was not disappointed.” Len says, “You combined good technique with a high performance level. You pulled that off.” – Carrie Ann – 10, Len – 10, Bruno 10 – 301-800-868-3411VIDEO

Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas – Paso Doble – Blah blah blah about her mom and the tea party. Of course they have nothing to do with why she’s still in it! right. Uhm. Her hair looks pretty. Otherwise? Nooooooo. She looks like she’s going to trip over her dress. She needs to go this week. Her mom Sarah is in the audience. Carrie Ann gives her a big hug, “This is what we’ve been asking for all season long. You finally come out of your shell.” Len says, “You’ve been in the b2 6 times. Tonight, your best dance, fabulous.” Bruno says, “The little lamb is turning into a tigress.” Seriously? – Carrie Ann – 9, Len – 9, Bruno – 9 – 271-800-868-3407VIDEOSCORES

Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer – Samba – “She’s Got Me Dancing” – Kyle is like a jiggle machine up there, I can’t stop looking at his bouncing belly. Lulz. Len says, “There’s no backstage dramas, you come out and get on with it. You’ve got a bionic bum! Great rhythm. Great entertainment.” Bruno says, “you are a bouncing bundle of joy. You are irresistible.” Carrie Ann says, “I’ve never seen so much pelvic action ever. An amazing blend of technique and performance.” Carrie Ann – 10, Len – 9, Bruno – 10 – 29!-800-868-3403VIDEO

2nd Round

Brandy and Maks Chmerkovskiy – Argentine Tango – Brandy’s family talks about her as a child. Then we get to hear all about Brandy’s involvement in a fatal car accident. Whoa, they interview Whitney. I wish Maks and Brandy had a little more chemistry here, but they dancing is spot on. Maks lost his earring. Len says, “Your extension, is fantastic, you created an atmosphere, that’s what we saw.” Bruno says, “Full of flavor, great emotional depth, the way you extended your body, stunning.” Carrie Ann says, “The trouble is gone, my dear. That was gorgeous.” She’s gonna get some tens! Her first perfect score? Carrie Ann – 10, Len – 10, Bruno -10 – 30 – 57. YES! – VIDEO

Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough – Waltz – “Way Over Yonder” – Jennifer’s famous dad, Joel talks about her childhood. then dirty dancing. She and her boyfriend were in a terrible accident in Ireland. People in the other car were killed. I remember this! Matthew Broderick driving on the wrong side of the road. Oops. She’s had neck problems ever since. She says she’s “never danced like this in her life.” WHAT??!!!? The routine is well done and elegant. She runs into the audience to kiss her family. Bruno says, “This was a gem of a waltz, the quality of movement really is stunning.” Carrie Ann says, “In this dance, because you kept it so simple, it was one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen.” Len says, “Be still my beating heart. This was quiet, delicate, poignant. That was fabulous.” She’s going to get another perfect score. Carrie Ann – 10, Len – 10 Bruno -10 – 30 – 60VIDEO

Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas – Waltz – Her parents talk about her childhood. Bristol basically said she didn’t have any problems until she started dating Levi. She was hurt by the stuff people said about her. Now she goes around telling teenage girls not to have sex. The choreography is dumbed down, but she’s got decent technique. She’ll get more high scores. Carrie Ann says, “In this one there were longer moments where you drifted out.” Len says, “There’s a vulnerability about your dancing, I thought it was beautiful.” Bruno says, “I liked the way you approached this dance differently. Haunting. You really had a journey. I’m happy to see you here.” – Carrie Ann 8, Len – 9, Bruno – 9 – 26 – 53VIDEO

Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer – Argentine Tango – “Jai Ho” – So, Kyle is the only one of the four to not have terrible things happen to him in his childhood. Yay. Latin dancing by way of India? Kyle is out there entertaining, as usual. Len says, Len says, “You are a star. I don’t think anyone has come out with so much attack as you. Fantastic.” Bruno says, “Strong sharp, masculine. Whatever happens, you are Season 11 Mr. Charisma.” Carrie Ann says, “You remind me of Emmett Smith.” Carrie Ann – 10, Len – 9, Bruno – 10 – 29 – 58VIDEO
