Daily Numbers’ Thread – 10/04/16

This thread is brought to you by the numbers 6, 63, 48K and 689K

X-Factor’s Niall Horan debuts “This Town” on the Hot 100 at number 63. Considering that this is based on one day of sales/streams and 4 days of airplay, that’s pretty impressive. I’m not sure why he released his song a day before the tracking week ended, but he sold enough songs in one day to be 6th on the digital chart with 48K in sales and 689K streams. He had 11M AI by Sunday night on the radio. This is his first solo song.

Elsewhere on the chart, the Chainsmoker’s “Closer” tops the chart for a 7th week. We are in October and there have only been 10 songs on the top of the Hot 100 so far this year (“Closer”, “Cheap Thrills” by Sia, “One Dance” by Drake, “Can’t Stop the Feeling” by Justin Timberlake, “Panda” by Desiigner, “Work” by Rihanna, “Love Yourself” by Justin Bieber, “Pillowtalk” by Zayn, “Sorry” by Justin Bieber and “Hello” by Adele. You aren’t getting to the top this year unless you only have one name or your first name is Justin (okay, The Chainsmokers technically have a two name name, but I’m discounting the “the”)).
