Crystal Bowersox Broadway Debut “Always…Patsy Cline” Postponed

Bummer. The Broadway opening of the musical Always…Patsy Cline starring Crystal Bowersox playing the legendary country singer has been postponed.

The show, directed by Tony winner John Rando and also starring Annette O’Tool was originally announced to begin performances in July and open in August.

A production spokesperson told Broadway.com “Due to the lack of an appropriate theater for the show, Always…Patsy Cline has postponed its summer opening and is looking to open in the fall,”

I hope “lack of an appropriate theater” isn’t a euphemism for “we don’t have the money yet but hope to by the fall.”

Damn. That’s the second American Idol alum denied their Braoadway debut this year! Bo Bice was set to appear in Pump Boys and Dinettes which was originally scheduled for a March opening. It was postponed indefinitely to open in March, but was postponed indefinitely a few months after the original announcement.

Always…Patsy Cline tells the true story of the friendship that developed between Patsy Cline and Louise Seger (O’Toole), her most devoted fan.
