Creative Arts Emmy 2011 – Winners List (American Idol, Glee, SYTYCD, DWTS WINNERS!)

The Primetime Emmy Awards air next Sunday night on FOX, but most of the awards will be handed out TONIGHT at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards, including for Best Reality Host, Choreography and Guest Actor and Actresses.  Technical awards for editing, directing, sound, music, cinematography, hair, makeup, casting, will be awarded tonight. The Creative Emmy Awards will air next Saturday on the Reelz Channel.

I’ll keep track of the blog-centric awards live (American Idol, Glee, Dancing With the Stars, So You Think You Can Dance, America’s Got Talent), and a full list of the winners later.

UDPATE:  There were some nice wins tonight, although American Idol, Glee and Dancing with the Stars lost more than they won.

WINSAmerican Idol 2, Glee 2, So You Think You Can Dance 3 in two categories and Dancing with the Stars 1.
LossesAmerican Idol 5, Glee 5, So You Think You Can Dance 1, Dancing with the Stars 5, America’s Got Talent 1.

Freaking Jeff Probst won for Best Reality Show host AGAIN. GRRR. I was rooting for the FLAWLESS Cat Deeley, and then Ryan Seacrest second. But NOOO. I guess they’ll need to eat bugs or starve in order to win in their category.  Hosting a live show like AI or SYTYCD is completely different than an edited show like Survivor.

It’s a little odd that Idol won for sound mixing.  Fans are constantly complaining about the sound mix coming out of their TVs.  I would have liked to see American Idol win for editing the Homecoming show. That’s always one of the best episodes of the entire series. Also the costumes for the Glee New York finale was great. The show’s costume designer, Lou Eyrich, does fantastic work all season long.  Gwyneth Paltrow wins Guest Actress in a Comedy Series because she’s a famous movie actress.  Not to say she wasn’t good on the series, but I would have preferred an actress like Dot Marie Jones, or Cloris Leachman–who are actually a part of the series’ ensembles-to take the prize.

The big awards are next Sunday on the Prime Time Emmys on FOX. For our blogcentric shows we have:  Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series (Jane Lynch), Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series (Chris Colfer), Reality Competition (American Idol, SYTYCD), Directing for a Variety, Music or Comedy Series (American Idol).  Of course, I’ll be live blogging it all here.
