Carrie Underwood Wins Top Female Vocalist and Entertainer of the Year - The Academy Of Country Music Awards

HOLY CRAP CARRIE WON ENTERTAINER OF THE YEAR! She’s bawling her eyes out. Who could blame her. WOW. GO CARRIE GO.

Starting last year, the Academy allowed fans to vote for EOY. You know, American Idol fans, they know how to vote. I’m guessing the big guns–Chesney, Paisley, Strait and Urban–who were her competition are probably not too happy right now. George Strait didn’t look happy at all. Ha ha. Carrie is only the seventh woman to win the award. The Dixie Chicks were the last females to win back in 2000. Impressive.

Carrie also nabbed the Top Female Vocalist award. Glad she won over Taylor Swift who was as tone deaf as ever in her live performances tonight. However, Carrie’s Carnival Ride losing out to Taylor’s mega-selling hit album Fearless was to be expected.

The Academy of Country Music Awards take place in Las Vegas Nevada Sunday night. The big night for country music is being aired by CBS. Check out CMT’s Live blog.

Carrie Underwood is up for Top Female Vocalist, along with Miranda Lambert Heidi Newfield, Taylor Swift and Lee Ann Womack. Plus she’s competing with the big boys–Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley, George Strait and Keith Urban–for Entertainer of the Year.

Also, her album, Carnival Ride is nominated for Album of the year.

Dancing with the Stars dance Pro, Julianne Hough, is nominated for the Best New Artist Award.

Kellie Pickler is in the house, she introduced Keith Urban. Chris Sligh is there in spirit–Rascal Flatts performed his song “Here Comes Goodbye.”

There’s been a ton of buzz around Carrie Underwood’s dress tonight. Singing “I Told You So” the dress is big-ass and scarlett-colored–reminiscent of Kelly Clarkson’s My December cover.

She probably needed a team of people to help her on stage without killing herself. No wonder she wore it for dress rehearsal yesterday. Watch for the video. It’s coming up soon.
