  1. Her dancing, especially in the beginning, makes her look tipsy. She’s a cutie. Her voice is amazing live. Sounds just like the recording.

  2. Is she barefoot? Carrie is just awesome. I have to admit, I didn’t appreciate her on Idol (or immediately after) but she is just a sweet and lovely person inside a gorgeous body. And she can pretty much sing anything. (I even liked “Before He Cheats,” although I am not at all a fan of country music. But it was very catchy and sing-along-able.)

    Go, Carrie!

I agree with you MJ….She has developed into an amazing performer and to me is a real music star. Like I said in the Headlines thread to me she sounds better live. This new song is really growing on me. I think she has another “Before he Cheats”.

I have to say no matter what people say about Idol and the stars that come from it ….AI produces the best live singers in the music industry today. Off the top of my head there is Kelly, Carrie, Kim Locke, Fantasia, Jenifer Hudson, Clay, Josh, Daughtry, Ruben, Bo, Taylor, Elliot, Katharine McPhee, Carly, Cook, Archuleta, Danny, Matt, Anoop, Allison, Kris, and my all time favorite Adam. All of them when rested and have not done a 52 city tour or more ( looking at you Cook and Carrie) are Amazing live. (They all are amazing live even at the end of a grueling tour) I personally do not like the music genre or songs or each of them, but I have to admit they all can sing their butts off which is more then you can say for a huge percentage of music artist today.

  4. Well said dhunken,

Even if you are not crazy about their genre of music, many of those you mentioned sound great live. I would say all of the top 5 of season 8 are great live performers.

I love Carrie – she is one of my all time favorites and I love her new single. It might just rank up there with Before He Cheats.

  5. Anybody who goes out there barefoot to perform, especially in a fancy dress, has my vote every time. I always loved Carrie. I loved Bo just as much on the show…I didn’t vote. My favorite ever musician is known as “The barefoot troubadour.” Of course, he’s also known as the “Tipsy Gypsy.” Anyhow, shod in Prada or twinkling her toes barefoot, Carrie Underwood is always alright with me.

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I just wanted to say thanks for including Matt (my favorite) in that list. I know that most of the folks around here prefer Adam and Kris, but it makes my heart happy to see little bits of appreciation for Matt. I agree that he and all the other Season 8 Idols you listed are wonderful live performers. Their hard work, stamina and stellar talent is nothing to sneeze at, and sometimes people overlook how much it takes to perform at their level.

    Anyways, thanks again! #signmattgiraud

  7. Carrie sings well, that’s a good performance. She can’t dance however, and should probably get someone to teach her how to move. In the meantime she should wear something that covers her knees – her movements and posture are very awkward and distracting (legs too wide apart, knees too bent), so it’s best not to see too much of her legs.

  8. Damn, girl! That was a great performance. And my country-music-hating self actually kind of liked the song.

  9. dhunken….good list, but I have to add Elliott Yamin to that list. He has an awesome voice to hear live. Recordings definitely do not do him justice.
Speaking of Elliott, he just announced a USO tour to Guam and Japan in October. Go Elliott!!!

I totally agree and added him to the list. There are many more I am sure but these are the ones I remembered off the top of my head and the ones I will look for vids on youtube if I hear they sang live at some event.

  11. dhunken…..I kind of figured it was just an oversight. I love youtube for live videos of my favorites too.

Elliott performed at Ely Rise’s (The Last Goodnight) Creep Show 4 a couple of weeks ago. He was great. According to a fan who was there, Brandon Rogers sang backup for him.

In this video Brandon is one of 2 guys who were singing with E. At the very beginning you can see that Brandon is way to the right in the picture, but unfortunately you can’t really see him. I’m not sure who the other singer is.

I’ve watched this video several times. It’s really great to see Elliott being so at ease on stage.
    Enjoy!

  12. I am watching American Idol Rewind for Season 5 and my how Carrie has grown since she was on Idol. I also saw her on tour in 2005. Voice was always there but she lacked in stage performance and personality. Big difference between then and now.

  13. Carrie’s performance style has improved so much since her days on American Idol

True. Though it would be pretty pathetic if she hadn’t improved in nearly 5 years.

I am watching American Idol Rewind for Season 5 and my how Carrie has grown since she was on Idol.

She was actually on Season 4 and that already aired earlier this year.

  14. “Is she barefoot?”

She is! She was wearing heels but apparently one of them got stuck in a little crack on the stage. She had a laugh about it and took them off for the rest of the show.

What a fun performance! I’d been waiting to see how Carrie did with Cowboy Casanova live and she might be even better than in the studio! It’s awesome seeing her having fun up there.

“In the meantime she should wear something that covers her knees ”

I think it would’ve been very difficult for her to find an outfit that was both appropriate for induction into the Oklahoma Music Hall Of Fame and worked for a song like Cowboy Casanova ;) Her dress is gorgeous though and in all the still pics I’ve seen she looks amazing. The other vids from this concert are also great.

    Thanks for posting this mj!

  15. Carrie is a very consistent singer, not easy for most, but seemingly easy for Carrie. She’s a natural.

  16. miss_marissa We may have to battle for that dress… Ha. j/k
I flove the fact that she was barefoot. Go with the flow.

re: her dancing/stage presence… I saw her live at CMA Fest in Nashville last yr. & she was freakin’ incredible. 20min set, very little banter between songs but she still had a huge connection with the audience (in a 45,000 seater stadium no less). I gotta say, as I am a woman, her LEGS were the best things about her, next to her voice of course. *so not ashamed, she is my girl crush* She strutted fabulously – she did do a lot of bending, that’s sorta her thing. Bend and twist or sway. I’m sure she’s probably a competent dancer in her own home but who knows, I really don’t mind if my fave musicians aren’t a triple threat [I kinda prefer it]. I THINK SHE’S STELLAR. Top notch performer!!!

I’m just always so mehhh about her.

Carrie’s good but this Cowboy Casanova single really is not very good. I wonder if Tony Romo likes this song?
