UK TV presenter, Caroline Flack is dead at age 40.
She hosted Love Island and was a former Strictly Come Dancer winner. But you may know her as the co-host of the Xtra Factor (2011-2013), a post show series that aired after the X Factor. And in 2015, she co-hosted the X Factor with Olly Murs.
In a statement, Caroline’s family confirmed her death: “We can confirm that our Caroline passed away today on the 15th February. “We would ask that the press both respect the privacy of the family at this difficult time.” A lawyer for Caroline’s family said that she had been discovered in her flat in east London having sadly taken her own life.
Olly, also a former X Factor finalist and currently a coach on The Voice, took to Instagram to pay tribute to Caroline. “Caz… ?? f*** this hurts! My heart is forever broken.. I’ve lost something today that I’ll never ever get back.. and that’s you.” Read his full tribute HERE.
The X Factor said in a statement: “We are absolutely devastated by this tragic news. Caroline was a much loved member of The X Factor family and a huge part of its success over the years. We send our deepest condolences to her family and friends.”
ITV said: “Everybody at Love Island and ITV is shocked and saddened by this desperately sad news. “Caroline was a much loved member of the Love Island team and our sincere thoughts and condolences are with her family and friends.”
From 2015 up until this year, Caroline had hosted Love Island on ITV2. However, in December, she stepped down from her hosting duties after was she was arrested for assaulting her boyfriend, the former professional tennis player Lewis Burton, at their home in London. She pleaded not guilty to the charge and faced a trial due to begin next month.
