After parting ways with Interscope records after his quickie post-Idol album, Testify, didn’t catch fire, Caleb Johnson has emerged with a new single, “Holding On.”
The American Idol season 13 winner shared his thoughts in an interview with WSPA 7 news recently about life after parting ways with a major label. The singer has created his own independent record label called “Big Johnson Records” and is working on his second album.
Caleb has also signed on with new management McGee Entertainment which also boasts artists such as Richie Samboro, Darius Rucker, Kiss and Orianthi on its roster.
The upcoming record, an EP, is due out later this year. In the meantime the singer has partnered with the crowdfunding website, Pledgemusic to offer fans merch and pre-order bundles plus exclusives that are only available to those who have purchased an access pass. The new song “Holding On” was released just before Caleb’s stint as an American Idol star mentor and duet partner. The song is available now at iTunes and to stream via Spotify. If you want a listen now, check out a youtube stream from Caleb’s channel.
Caleb is going for throttle for that retro classic rock sound, but with a touch of gospel.
