Billboard Update 09/08/02

This week’s Idol Billboard Chart for y’all. Read along, won’t you?

The Billboard chart is turning into a monster! It seems like every week I’m adding new charts. I’ve added the recurrent charts for the Hot 100, R&B, Country, Adult Contemporary and Adult Top 40 charts. The recurrent charts reflect the longevity of a single–how long a song stays on radio station playlists. Kelly Clarkson’s “Walk Away, ” “Because of You, ” and “Breakaway” are all still hanging in on recurrent charts.

Highlights:

  • Carrie Underwood’s new single “So Small” continues to climb the charts. The single is from her upcoming album, “Carnival Ride” scheduled to be released October 23. Check out the CD cover here. According to Billboard, “So Small, ” “made Underwood the first female to debut in the Hot Country Songs top 20 in 43 years; it is No. 11 only four weeks after release.” Additional tracks on the album are, “Last Name, ” “Just a Dream” (about a soldier dying and the emotions his fiancà © experiences as she comes to terms with the tragedy) and a remake of Randy Travis’ “I Told You So.”
  • Elliott Yamin’s single “Wait For You” appears on yet another Billboard chart. It debuts at #25 on the Hot Dance Airplay chart. Is there a dance mix of the song floating out there somewhere?
  • Speaking of dance mixes, Kelly Clarkson’s “Never Again” is #45 on the Hot Dance Club Play chart, up two spots from last week. It’s highest chart position is #24.
  • Daughtry’s new single “Over You” jumps from #75 to #62 on the Billboard Hot 100 and it debuts at #59 on the Hot 100 Airplay chart. It climbs from #39 to #32 on the Pop 100, #25 to #22 on the Pop 100 Airplay, and #25 to #18 on the Hot Adult Top 40 chart. See Daughtry play live in Las Vegas, via AOL Music.
