Billboard – 10/02/10

Today’s theme for the numbers is Billboard. Today, I’m going to try reporting by name (please be patient as I find a format that works). Let me know if you prefer this style over the reporting by chart.

Fantasia has our one Number 1 song with Bittersweet on the R&B Adult single chart.

  1. Love the way you laid it out. Much easier to get the big picture. Thanks!

  2. Thank you, Kirsten. I appreciate any format in which you choose to report, but I really like this format. I’m not a numbers gal (I enjoy reading them but don’t readily “get” them), but this method of listing by artist made logical sense in my generally arithmophobic brain.

  3. Thanks for the song code. I like to watch all the idols, but I don’t always know the song titles off the top of my head.

  4. Thanks Kirsten. I really appreciate the song code. My only suggestion, is to bold each artist’s name, which makes it easier for those who just want to pop in & check their favorite on the list.

  5. ohhh, I guess while we are at it, I have one request. When I go to historical charts the billboard list only until July of 2009. Is there a chance we can get that updated?

  6. Adam is still rockin’ the charts after almost a year of his album release. Happy for Adam.

  7. I personally just appreciate that you take the time and effort to post the numbers. (Pretty much daily now too :-) ) Which way is easiest for you? I definitely think “any cut in pay” talk should be re-evaluated, in fact I think a raise is in order ..

All kidding aside I like either method. One small question under Adam the last item reads 200:10. Can you please explain this entry. I am sure its something simple…but honestly my mind has been in a fog lately. Thank you!

  9. Good update for IIHY. Just when you think this song is slowing down it rebounds a little.

  10. Thkank you, Kirsten. I’ve become addicted to these daily number threads and this layout for the Billboard list is very nice.

    Hurray for Matt!

And I’m glad to see IIHY is continuing to do well on radio. BTW, does anyone know the liklihood of it making it to 15 in Pop?

  11. One small question under Adam the last item reads 200:10. Can you please explain this entry. I am sure its something simple…but honestly my mind has been in a fog lately

I couldn’t decipher it either. I was hoping somebody would figure it out. I’m beginning to suspect that BB might have had a typo.

  12. Zsus- Rhianna will pass him tomorrow, but he should pass B.O.B’s Magic to keep him at #16. Airplanes is also dropping, so it IS a possibility that by the next chart he will be #15:

    13 = B.O.B Airplanes f/Hayley Williams 5128 -62 -486 -34 32.871 -0.
    14 +1 ONEREPUBLIC Secrets 5029 +67 242 +50 25.082 +0.600 31
    15 -1 B.O.B Magic f/Rivers Cuomo 4851 -177 -439 -124 28.067 -0.820
    16 = ADAM LAMBERT If I Had You 4790 +40 114 +7 23.403 -0.167 44
    17 = RIHANNA Only Girl (In The World) 4659 +187 1663 -88 29.767 +0.

If the good updates continue, and this one isn’t a fluke, he could even pass Cooler Than Me next week for #14, but it all depends how the next week goes.

  13. And I’m glad to see IIHY is continuing to do well on radio. BTW, does anyone know the liklihood of it making it to 15 in Pop?

If the songs above that are dropping, (B.O.B songs, Misery, Cooler Than Me) keep dropping at the same rate, it will be #15 at the end of next week, even with a small negative bullet.
It could be #16 this Sunday, Only Girl will overtake, but Magic should drop below.

Studio beat me to it! :)

  14. I couldn’t decipher it either. I was hoping somebody would figure it out. I’m beginning to suspect that BB might have had a typo.

Well its good to know I am in good company then ;-) …I would hazard to guess that it is a typo then. Thank you

  15. Kristen, like the new format!

One suggestion — why no use Hot Digital Songs rather than Hot Digital Tracks? HDS combines all the versions of a song and is the sales component for the Hot 100.

Although I admit I like seeing IIHY at #39 Digital Tracks vs. #41 Digital Songs. ;)

  16. MJ – I like the format – seems easier. However – I did like it when you gave the position of the song the week before… whether it went up or down! GREAT JOB you do! thank you for the time you spend!

  17. So great to see Adam doing so well all over the charts :-) And I’m happy because I hear IIHY a lot on radio!

  18. Nice update for IIHY.

Studio57: ITA. Looks like IIHY will end up at #16 on this week’s Mediabase Pop chart. And has a real shot at #14 the following week. (I’ll be happy with #15!)

I just wish there was something that would push it up on the sales chart and move it higher on Billboard this week. AI is up slightly so BB Radio Songs rank should move up but currently at #42 on iTunes so it looks like it will be around #40 on digital songs again. So not much chance for much of a move on the BB Hot 100.

  19. Digital Songs chart leaked:

    41 LAMBERT*ADAM IF I HAD YOU 36,643 -6 39,147 456,344
    81 DAUGHTRY SEPTEMBER 17,877 3 17,421 180,102
    120 UNDERWOOD*CARRIE UNDO IT 12,857 -28 17,879 825,532
    155 LAMBERT*ADAM WHATAYA WANT FROM ME 9,433 -8 10,224 1,554,480

Digital Songs chart includes all versions of a song, so Adam’s numbers include remixes.

  20. One suggestion — why no use Hot Digital Songs rather than Hot Digital Tracks? HDS combines all the versions of a song and is the sales component for the Hot 100.

I used the Artist Index. BB didn’t include the Hot Digital Songs (just the Hot Digital Tracks) in the index. I don’t know why they don’t.

  21. More concert tour numbers from IdolStages…

08/20/2010 Adam Lambert Orianthi, Allison Iraheta
South Shore Music Circus, Cohasset, MA
    (In-House Promotion) / Vincent Longo
    2,250 / 2,250 100%
    $28.50 – $45.50
    $71,580

07/20/2010 Adam Lambert, Orianthi, Allison Iraheta
    Showbox SoDo, Seattle, WA
    (In-House Promotion) / AEG Live
    1,855 / 1,855 100%
    $35 – $40
    $63,080

    ——-
Some AI concert tour numbers there as well. Not sure if they’re new. My brain can only take certain amount of numbers. Don’t want to go into anaphylactic shock.

  22. There was a bit of a debate about the $0 tickets reported by Pollstar for the GNT Erie. I just ran across another one of those reports from Pollstar posted on Idolstages…and it is one with a Billboard Boxscore….

    Pollstar report

    8/26/2010 Adam Lambert, Allison Iraheta
Roanoke Performing Arts Theatre, Roanoke, VA
    Outback Concerts
    1,987 / 2,000 99%
    $37.75 – $0
    $71,574

    Billboard Boxscore
    158 Adam Lambert, Allison Iraheta
Roanoke Performing Arts Theatre; Roanoke, Va.
    Aug. 26, 2010
    $75,366; 1,896 of 1,896 (Sold-Out); $39.75

Since the concert tickets were sold for $39.75, I think the Billboard report is more accurate.

  23. I think the right songs are charting well. IIHY is a great song. I’d like Adam to hit a top 10 single, but that may have to wait till next album.

I bought Daughtry’s song September yesterday (and I don’t normally buy Daughtry). IMO, the best he’s ever put out. Kinda like Bob Segar for a new generation. He just might be that guy when it’s all said and done.

  24. VH 1 Top Twenty Countdown for Sept. 25, 2010

    06 Daughtry “September” [9|4] [+1]
    14 Adam Lambert “If I Had You” [15|1(2x)] [+2]

    Countdown Contender
    23 Fantasia “Bittersweet”

  25. I’d like Adam to hit a top 10 single, but that may have to wait till next album

Adam has had a top 10 single off the FYE album. WWFM went top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, No. 2 on HAC, No. 7 (or something like that)on AC (plus top ten on bb digital sales chart)….the only major relevant chart WWFM was not top 10 prior to recurrency was the pop airplay chart, where it peaked at #13(mediabase)/#12 (billboard)….

  26. I liked Daughtry on Idol but run hot and cold on his music. However, I think September is a terrific song. I just love the small town, melancholy vibe it has.

I think the Mediabase Pop chart is where WWFM didn’t go #10 (that’s the one alot of people here refer to.)

  27. the only major relevant chart WWFM was not top 10 prior to recurrency was the pop airplay chart, where it peaked at #13(mediabase)/#12 (billboard)….

Speaking of… Adam’s list above does not include where IIHY landed this week on the Pop chart? Is that not part of Billboard charts? Adult Top 40 is HAC, right? What about where he is on regular Pop? I’m confused.

Anyway, thanks for the ##s. The format is secondary to me, so whatever is easiest and works best… Go for it!

  28. Adam’s list above does not include where IIHY landed this week on the Pop chart? Is that not part of Billboard charts? Adult Top 40 is HAC, right? What about where he is on regular Pop? I’m confused

IIHY is #16 on this week’s Billboard Mainstream Top 40 (Pop) chart
