Big Brother 17 Episode 12 Recap and Live Blog

A new episode of Big Brother 17 airs tonight on CBS. Read a live recap and join the discussion here.

After Jeff was evicted, Liz and Shelli won the Head of Household competition and put the Sixth Sense alliance in power once again. Which four HouseGuests did they nominate for eviction and which two saved themselves in the Battle of the Block competition? Let’s find out!

Shelli and Liz are excited to be the Heads of Household, and so is Audrey since she believes Shelli and Liz are on her side. Jackie, however, is nervous that she will be a target after her The Amazing Race partner Jeff was just evicted. Meanwhile, the house is wondering how Jeff got four votes to stay. The house knows Jackie and John admitted to voting to keep him, but the other two votes are unknown (Liz and Steve were the other two votes). Austin thinks it was Becky and Audrey as he’s talking to Liz. Liz then admits in the diary room she voted to evict James because she never had a good relationship with him. Elsewhere in the house, Jason is nervous about nominations and is certain he’ll be put on the block again. He thinks Liz will nominate him since he’s been spreading the twin rumor around. Meanwhile, Shelli and Clay celebrate Shelli winning HoH again and they also wonder how Jeff got four votes to stay. They think the two secret votes were from Steve and Becky.

During the HoH room reveal, Shelli reads her letter from home that is written from the point of view of her dog. Also, John notes in the diary room how Liz’s letter could’ve been written to anyone instead of a specific person, and that validates the twin theory to him. After the HoH room reveal, we see a brief clip of a musical number Shelli, Audrey, Jason, and Meg came up with before Shelli and Liz discuss nominations with Clay and Austin. They are unsure who to target, but names being thrown out include Jason, Jackie, and Becky.

Austin talks to Jackie privately in the parlor room. She wants to ensure Austin that even though he didn’t get along with Jeff, it doesn’t mean she can’t get along with him. Austin is also hoping to form a close allegiance with Jackie too. However, Jackie is hesitant to trust Austin after he mentioned that she could be nominated as a pawn. Afterwards, Jackie goes talk to Shelli in the HoH room. Shelli tells her that she won’t nominate her, but Jackie reveals to her that Austin already warned her that Liz may nominate her. In the diary room, Shelli expresses her frustration that Austin shared this information with Jackie without consulting the group first. Shelli then talks to Vanessa and warns her about Austin’s big mouth. Shelli doesn’t think she can completely trust Austin now and believes they need to be careful with information they share with him.

The Sixth Sense alliance discuss nominations. Shelli admits she wants to stay in power, but she has no clue who to nominate. Names being mentioned for Shelli to nominate are Jason, John, and Steve. Shelli agrees that nominating John will get less blood on her hands, so Clay goes downstairs to ask John if he is okay being nominated again. He tells him that they want Jason gone and they want John on the block again. John agrees to be a pawn yet again, but expresses his frustrations about it in the diary room. Shelli talks to Audrey about nominations too, and Audrey tells her that Shelli should target people who has said they would target her. Shelli asks who has mentioned her name and Audrey tells her Jason has.

It’s time for the nomination ceremony. Liz nominated James and Jackie for eviction. Liz tells them that she just hasn’t made a close connection with the two of them and doesn’t know where they stand in the game. Shelli nominated Jason and John for eviction. She tells John she already nominated him, so this is her way of getting less blood on her hands. She then tells Jason that she heard Jason is coming after her, and tells her that if it’s not true, they can talk about it and he can fight to dethrone her in the Battle of the Block. Afterwards, Jackie talks to Liz to find out if she should be worried and Liz tells her that she isn’t the target. However, Liz says in the diary room that she doesn’t feel like she owes Jackie any information since this is the first time the two of them have talked game with each other. Liz vents to Austin about this, and she admits that she wouldn’t be sad to see Jackie evicted this week. Shelli then talks to Jason. He wants to know who told her he’s coming after her, and she tells him she heard it from Audrey. Jason is angry, especially since he has never told anyone he was targeting Shelli. He tells Shelli this, and now she’s upset with Audrey for giving her false information.

It’s time for the twins to switch again. Liz reveals everything to Julia, including that she won HoH, voted to keep James, and she’s only flirting with Austin for strategic purposes. Julia then reenters the house. Later on, Audrey overhears Jason complaining about being nominated to Meg. He says he thinks he’s only nominated because of liars. Audrey fears that she has been thrown under the bus, so she goes talk to Shelli about this. Shelli tells her that Audrey was the one who told her that Jason was coming after her, but Audrey deflects and says that she only heard that Jason was coming after Shelli based on what Shelli, Clay, and Vanessa have been saying. Shelli is astounded that Audrey said this to her when she earlier told her that Jason was coming after her. Shelli is now worried that she can’t trust Audrey, and in the diary room she wonders if Audrey should be the actual target this week.

It’s time for the Battle of the Block competition. The BB Takeover theme this week is 90’s, and the competition has a grunge music theme to it. The two pairs must find keys in four different zones and unlock a dummy chained up to a tree. The first pair to unlock all four locks and release their dummy will win the competition. John and Jason take an early lead, even finding a key that was right under James’ nose. They also manage to find three keys while James and Jackie only have one. However, at the smashing pumpkins zone, they are unable to find a key. They are smashing pumpkins to no avail, and James and Jackie catch up. They then find all four keys and unlock their dummy. James and Jackie win the Battle of the Block. Liz (Julia) is dethroned and Shelli remains HoH. John and Jason are still nominated for eviction. For punishment for losing the Battle of the Block, Liz, John, and Jason must wear boy band outfits for the week and do a dance routine whenever a specific music plays.

And that wraps up another episode of Big Brother 17! Thanks for reading and come back on Wednesday for another live recap.
