The America’s Got Talent LIVE shows are finally here! The Quarter Finals kick off on Tuesday August 13 at 8 pm ET/PT on NBC. Twelve acts will perform in front of judges Howie Mandel, Gabrielle Union, Julianne Hough and Simon Cowell.
Twenty-eight acts survived the Judge Cuts, joining the five Golden Buzzers from auditions to compete in the Quarter Finals. That leaves THREE open slots for WILDCARDS to make 36 acts in total. And the first wildcard act revealed is…Ansley Burns. She’s the young singer who cried her eyes out after learning she was axed. Simon made her perform TWICE during both her audition and judge cuts performance. Because he didn’t like her singing to a track, he made her perform again acapella.
Kodi Lee and Luke Islam are returning to perform after they received Golden Buzzer nods from Gabrielle Union and Julianne Hough, respectively. Sophie Pecora advanced straight to the live shows after guest judge Brad Paisley chose her as his Golden Buzzer during the Judge Cuts.
On Wednesday’s (August 14) LIVE results show at 8 pm ET/PT. SEVEN acts will move on to the finals, FIVE will be eliminated. This, after the FIRST nationwide vote of the season. Breaking down the results further: Five acts will go through to the live shows based on America’s vote. The 6th, 7th and 8th place finishers will compete for the Dunkin Instant Save. One act will be saved by the judges.
Check out the full list of 12 acts competing on Tuesday (August 13)
Alex Dowis – Blacklight Painter – He’s the only act to advance who didn’t get a full audition segment. The judges felt his Judges Cut performance was such an improvement over his audition, that they advanced him to the Quarterfinals. – VIDEO
*Ansley Burns – Young Soul Singer – WILDCARD – Simon Cowell made Ansley sing her song twice BOTH times she performed, and then cut her from the competition. The poor girl cried so hard after she was cut, that Simon took the stage to comfort her. Maybe he felt bad. Or, probably, he believes bringing her back is good TV – VIDEO
Bir Khalsa – Danger Act – Indian trio does very destructive things with a mallet. – VIDEO
Carmen Carter – Diva Belter – She’s performed with Maroon 5 and was a member of the Dancing with the Stars house band for a number of seasons. (Julianne Hough, who was a pro/judge on DWTS for years has yet to acknowledge her). – VIDEO
Emerald Belles – Teen “high kick” dance team. Simon seemed to be the only judge who wanted them to advance. Regardless, for high schoolers, they are very good at what they do. – VIDEO
GForce – Teen Girl group – These tweens are a bit pageanty and kidzbop to be taken seriously. – VIDEO
Greg Morton – Comedian/impressionist – Greg has been around the comedy and voice over scenes for years, and is still looking for his big break. He wowed the judges with a movie themed routine, filled with well-known, classic movie bits. – VIDEO
Kodi Lee – Singer/pianist – Kodi, both blind and on the autism spectrum, has a very special gift for music. He was Gabrielle Union’s Golden Buzzer during auditions, thus he got to skip the Judge Cuts. It will only be his second performance of the season. – VIDEO
Luke Islam – Young Singer – Twelve year old Luke was Julianne Hough’s audition Golden Buzzer. Subsequently, he skipped the judge cuts and will be making his second appearance on the show. After Luke confessed his love for Broadway and for Julianne, she hit her golden buzzer. – VIDEO
Messoudi Brothers – Hand Balancers – These men are STRONG. And mostly perform with their shirts off. Heh. During judge cuts, the brothers invited their father to join them on stage. – VIDEO
Sophie Peccora – Young singer – During judge cuts, Sophie was spared the indignity of waiting until the end of the show to learn her fate. She went straight through to the next round when guest judge Brad Paisley chose her as his Golden Buzzer. Sophie is already a popular Youtube artist who is making her mark on AGT with original songs. – VIDEO
Voices of Service – Singing group – The members of this singing quartet are veterans/active members of the military who perform for their fellow service people as a way to help heal both physical and psychic wounds. – VIDEO
