Last week, (July 16) Alejandro Aranda released “Darkness,” another new song from his upcoming album The Act of Forgiveness. Now, the American Idol season 17 runner-up, who goes by the moniker, Scarypoolparty has released a bold music video to accompany the song.

Directed by Juliana Carpino and featuring the Orchid Quartet, the song employs Alejandro’s intricate and mesmerizing guitar fingerpicking against a backdrop of sweeping, at times discordant strings.

“Been experimenting with only recording the moment and seeing where it goes, Alejandro wrote on social media. “This is a single off of my new album that I produced called The Act of Forgiveness.”

After Alejandro released the audio last week, he thanked his fans, writing, “Thanks to everyone listening to The Darkness!! So much more music to come, can’t wait for you to hear it all. Thanks to everyone who helped put this together!!”

“The Darkness” follows the release of Alejandro’s current single, “Friends,” a sweet and lighthearted song the singer describes as “being in the talking stage of a relationship and not knowing exactly how to say what you mean.”

Scarypoolparty largely produced the upcoming double album and recorded the set in nine days at the legendary Village Studios and Capitol Studios in Los Angeles. According to a recent press release, The Act of Forgiveness is culmination of all Alejandro’s styles and influences over the past few years, and reiterates the emotional depth of his songwriting as he explores themes of nostalgia, romance, and uncertainty.

This fall, the singer-songwriter joins X Ambassadors as direct support on their The Beautiful Liar tour, kicking off Oct. 15th at San Diego’s House of Blues. Tickets are on sale now.
