American Idol Ratings Rule Again

The Top 12 guys’ lackluster performances last night did not stop American Idol from  winning the ratings race once again against the Vancouver Winter Olympics. Here’s how it shook out:

Once again, Fox’s dominant American Idol bested NBC’s The Vancouver Olympic Winter Games, with an advantage of 3.32 million viewers and 65 percent among adults 18-49. American Idol averaged 22.80 million viewers and an 8.6 rating/23 share among adults 18-49 from 8-10 p.m., with the half-hour breakdown as follows:

8:00 p.m. – Viewers: 20.28 million (#1), A18-49: 7.5/21 (#1)
8:30 p.m. – Viewers: 23.13 million (#1), A18-49: 8.7/23 (#1)
9:00 p.m. – Viewers: 23.37 million (#1), A18-49: 8.9/23 (#1)
9:30 p.m. – Viewers: 24.42 million (#1), A18-49: 9.5/23 (#1)

Over at NBC, the ongoing Winter Olympics scored 19.48 million viewers and a 5.2/14 in the demo from 8-11 p.m., with the half-hour breakdown as follows:
