During an interview with Ellen Degeneres on her daytime talk show, which aired Tuesday (May 16), pop singer Katy Perry hinted heavily that she’ll be joining the ABC American Idol reboot set to air spring 2018.
Ever since ABC’s reboot was announced earlier this week, cast rumors have been swirling. Reports say Ryan Seacrest is nearing the end of negotiations to host. Idol alums Carrie Underwood, Adam Lambert and Chris Daughtry are reportedly in the mix.
And there are rumors that Katy is also close to signing a deal. When Ellen asked the singer if she’d be joining the show? Well, here’s the conversation:
Ellen: Supposedly your going to be a judge on American Idol
Katy: Judge not lest ye be judged. But…they didn’t say anything about constructive criticism, and I’m good at that.
Ellen: So, you’re going to be the judge on American Idol.
Katy: *sips tea*
So there you have it. I do believe the answer is yes.
During a conference call with reporters today ahead of the ABC upfront presentation to advertisers in New York City, network execs said they were currently in talks with potential cast members, but no deals have been signed yet.
