Tonight begins the long goodbye to an old friend, American Idol. The fifteenth and final season begins this week with a two part 4 hour premiere. Tonight, it’s the Atlanta and Denver auditions, beginning at 8/7c PM. The fun continues on Thursday when hopefuls from San Francisco and Little Rock grace our screens.
I want to hear from YOU. I’ll be posting my thoughts and favorites all season. But the real stars of this blog are the folks who have populated our comments section week in and week out, with smart, funny and insightful thoughts, opinions, rants etc. For the rest of the season, I’d like to post a weekly “Throwback Thursday” type column, featuring essays from YOU.
What does American Idol mean to you? It can be a column on your favorite contestant, favorite moment, favorite season, favorite performances. Or…LEAST FAVORITE whatever. If you’ve got a creative idea for a listicle, I’d love to hear about it.

If somebody has already posted 20 reasons why they love Lee DeWyze, I’m not looking for another perspective on the exact same subject. Although, variations on the same theme is a possibility, if the alternate take is unique.
It’s bound to be a season full of new talent, tears, laughter, frustration. You know THE USUAL! Except it will be the very last time…for everything. The last premiere. The last auditions. The last Hollywood Week. The last group rounds…you get the picture! The producers promise plenty of nostalgia along the way, beginning with the appearance of several alums at auditions, including Kris Allen, Lee DeWyze, Taylor Hicks, Clay Aiken and Ruben Studdard.
We’ll be live blogging every show as we always do. I’m looking forward to spending this last season with members of the Mjsbigblog community who have made my Idol journey so fun and memorable. To quote the legendary original flavah Idol, Kelly Clarkson, my life would suck without you!
I can’t wait for your ideas! Let’s make the last few months of American Idol memorable. I’M CRYING ALREADY.
