Based on Facebook viewers, Jamal Roberts, John Foster and Gabby Samone are the frontrunners. They all garnered more than 1 million views of their latest Facebook videos so far. John has more than 7M views. Gabby 2.5M and Jamal almost 2M. The rest of the Top 10 earned less than 500K each.
It’s worth noting that CHÉ and Filo garnered the lowest Facebook views of all the Top 14 performances the week before. And then they left the competition the following week.
American Idol 2025 Top 10 Rankings
The ratings below have shuffled around somewhat. Former front runners can go home sooner rather than later. Thunderstorm Artis has garnered lowish Facebook views two weeks in a row. And Slater Nalley has been a mid-packer at best the last few weeks. For Top 12 week, his views are shockingly low (he performed first, but popular contestants can overcome performing early in the lineup).
10. Kolbi Jordan

Although Kolbi is a Platinum Ticket holder, and she closed the Top 20 Songs of Faith night with a strong performance of “Amazing Grace,” she’s at a point in the competition where fellow R&B singers like Gabby Samone and Jamal Roberts are sewing up that musical lane. She could go home this week. If she makes it to Monday’s Judges Song Contest and she’s eliminated, the judges might use their save on her.
9. Mattie Pruitt

Mattie got off to a strong start in the competition, but her performances have been uneven lately. Although she sings with a mature tone, her youth and inexperience are catching up with her. For instance, on Top 1r night, she was able to meet the technical requirements of Janis Joplin’s “Piece of My Heart,” she was not able to meet the intensity and passion the song required. And her rendition of “Because of You” at Top 12 was lackluster. While she seemed a front runner in the beginning, it’s hard to imagine her in the Top 5.
8. Thunderstorm Artis

Early in the competition, it seemed like Thunderstorm could win it all. But look at his numbers. His rendition of “House of the Rising Sun” only garnered 200K views compared to the current front runners who are in the millions. I’m not sure why his performances aren’t catching on, as he’s a talented singer who brings a unique voice to the competition.
7. Slater Nalley

Like Thunderstorm, I once believed Slater could take it all in the end. But the favorite male country music star at this point is undoubtedly John Foster. While he moved fans at his audition with his original song dedicated to his music teacher’s late son, as the competition continued, his star faded. I suspect John’s conventional country covers resonate with viewers more deeply than Slater’s Americana renditions of John Prine and Jason Isbell songs.
6. Josh King

Josh is the only judges wildcard pick from Top 14 to remain in the competition and he has kept himself in the game with entertaining upbeat numbers, and earnest ballads. With Desmond Roberts’ recent elimination, Josh is the most musically talented contestant remaining. He knows how to pick songs and most importantly, how to DELIVER them on stage.
5. Canaan James Hill

Canaan has an incredible voice that he uses to share his love of the Lord. He’s sincere about his mission of spreading the good word. Every performance is like going to church. But he’s still working on his confidence and ability to connect to a crowd. It’s easy to forget he’s only a teenager! The singers ranked ahead of him have all made their mark on the show with strong performances. Still, he’s a good bet for the Top 5.
4. Breanna Nix

It’s obvious that Breanna struggles with confidence issues. But somehow, when she takes the stage, she leaves a lot of the self-doubt behind her. Like Canaan, she’s best singing Christian music, because it’s where her heart seems to be. But she used her big vocals to their fullest singing Journey’s “Open Arms” on Rock & Roll Hall of Fame night.
3. Gabby Samone

Gabby didn’t garner attention until Hollywood Week when the judges chose her as one of four singers to skip the Head-to-Head round and advance straight to the Top 24. Since then, her performances haven’t missed–from Nina SImone’s “Four Women,” “I Am Changing” to “Don’t Rain on My Parade” and her latest “A Song For You.” She picks standards and familiar hits to sing, but she always brings a fresh interpretation, with a bit of a Broadway flair, to the stage. Gabby, Jamal and John seem like a reasonable Top 3 at this point in the competition. But anything can happen!
2. Jamal Roberts

Jamal is arguably the best all around entertainer of season 23. His vocals are energetic, emotional and inimitable. He can work the stage like James Brown or sit on a stool and deliver an emotional performance like he did last week when he delivered a powerhouse rendition of Tom Odell’s “Heal.” It was an unusual song choice that illustrated how Jamal can pick songs across genres and make them his own.
1. John Foster

John snuck up out of nowhere to take the top spot. Yep. He could win the whole thing. He’s a sweet 18 year old from Louisiana whose vocal tone is ready for country radio right now. Unlike Slater, he chooses to cover songs from mainstream country music. He’s still young and hasn’t quite developed a unique style. But although his delivery can be generic, his vocal tone is effortlessly listenable. His rendition of “I Told You So” for Top 12 week moved judge Carrie Underwood, and garnered a ton of press AND over 7 million views on Facebook!
