American Idol is known for sending their Top 3 finalists back to their hometowns for a heroes welcome. The events are always heartwarming and emotional with crying, and more crying. SO MUCH CRYING! The contestants sit for interviews with local media before heading to local hotspots. The day ends with a parade and a concert.

After American Idol fans voted Noah Thompson, Leah Marlene and HunterGirl into the final last Sunday (May 15), they immediately got ready for their big day.

All three events will take place on Tuesday May 17. Check out the schedule of events below.

Make sure to check back for updates!

Noah Thompson – Louisa Kentucky

(ABC/Eric McCandless) NOAH THOMPSON

Noah Thompson hails from the tiny town of Louisa, Kentucky which sits on the border of West Virginia. Huntington, a college town, isn’t far away. Nevertheless, the Louisa community is small and tight-night and VERY excited to welcome their guy back home.

The concert, which takes place at Noah’s high school may attract as many as 10,000 people says organizer Mitch Castle. American Idol producers are also promising a “surprise musical guest.”

A complete schedule couldn’t be located. But we’ll update the post with any new information.

  • 7 pm – A parade through downtown Louisa which ends at the high school
  • 8: 30 pm – Concert at  Lawrence County High School

More information can be found at the Lawrence County Facebook page.

HunterGirl – Winchester Tennessee

HunterGirl American Idol
(ABC/Eric McCandless) HUNTERGIRL

HunterGirl began singing in her local church and competing in local singing competitions. Weekly watch parties for the singer took place every week at the Oldham theater, where she will perform on Tuesday.

“Our small community needs people who lead by example and that’s exactly what Hunter is,” said Montana Medina, owner of the Oldham. “She has given hope to this community and our youth. Because of her we know hard work and dedication can make your dreams come true. We are just so incredibly proud to be able to offer a space for the community to gather in support of her.”

  • 9:30 a.m. – Proclamation at the Oldham Theatre
  • 1 p.m. – Walk through of Franklin County High School
  • 3:30 p.m. – HunterGirl Costume Contest on the square
  • 4 p.m. – Parade on the square
  • 4:30-8:30 – Concert at Twin Creeks Marina and Resort. This free concert will feature HunterGirl and local performers.

Leah Marlene – Normal, Illinois

(ABC/Eric McCandless) LEAH MARLENE

Leah Marlene was born in Toronto, Canada, but moved to Normal at a young age.  She graduated from Normal West High School in 2019. Normal Mayor Chris Koos will issue a proclamation designating Tuesday “Leah Marlene Day.”

  • 6 pm – Procession & Proclamation (Open to the Public) – The parade will stop midway for the Mayor’s Proclamation
  • 7:30 pm –  Concert which will take place at the end of the parade route.

There is probably more that will happen during the day. If a fuller schedule turns up, we’ll post it here. For more specific information about the parade and concert go to Normalil.gov

After Tuesday’s events, the Top 3 will be whisked back to Los Angeles to prepare for Sunday’s (May 22) Grand Finale when either Noah, HunterGirl or Leah will be crowned the new American Idol winner. The Top 3 will pick songs from a Bruce Springsteen theme and perform the original songs they recorded last week. More info on the 3 hour event  HERE.
