American Idol 2020: How to Vote YOUR Favorite Alum to Hollywood!

American Idol 2020 AMAs Logan Johnson, Layla Spring, Shawn Robinson

Sunday night (Nov 25)  on the 2019 American Music Awards, featured clips of three former American Idol contestants singing on the Whiskey A-Go-Go stage in Los Angeles.

Fans can vote NOW for the singer they believe deserves a spot in the upcoming Hollywood Rounds. Head to americanidol.com/vote to vote for your favorite–either Logan Johnson, Layla Spring or Shawn Robinson. Voting ends at 1:00 p.m. ET on Monday 11/25/19. Limit one (1) vote per person.

American Idol will announce the winner during Monday’s (Nov 26) Dancing with the Stars finale, beginning at 8 pm ET/PT on ABC.

To refresh your memory: Layla Spring was the teen southern country singer with the adorable 7 year old sister who tagged along to her judges audition. Lil sis got a golden ticket from the judges  to use when she turned 15! The producers pimped the heck out of Layla before the show premiered. It is the reason why I remember her so clearly. But the show cut Layla at the Top 24 after performing “A Broken Wing” in addition to “Stuck Like Glue” with Sugarland.

Logan Johnson from season 2019 had a sad backstory. The Boise Idaho native was addicted to painkillers. He was only 8 months sober when he auditioned for the show. He performed “Sober” for his audition, but was eliminated at the Top 20 after performing “Love Don’t Live Here Anymore” in addition to “What a Time” with Julia Michaels.

Shawn Robinson is also from American Idol 2019. He worked as a “garden associate” at a hardware store. He performed an acoustic version of “Who Are You” by Jessie J. for the judges. Idol eliminated Shawn after he performed “Jealous,” in addition to “Proud Mary” with Ellie King.

On the AMA’s American Idol teased each artist during the commercial break with a short performance clip and voting instructions. Check out their full performances below. All three sang AMA nominated songs.  In their respective clips, the judges took turns introducing each singer.

Katy Perry introduced Logan Johnson singing Dan + Shay’s “Speechless.”

Luke Bryan introduces Layla Spring who sings Carrie Underwood’s “Blown Away.” Big note! She ends the performance with a  “THANK Y’ALL SO MUCH!”

Lionel Richie introduces Shawn Robinson, who performs “That’s What I Like” by Bruno Mars.
