American Idol 13 Top 5 Predictions

American Idol 13 Top 5 predictions! Who will be eliminated?

iTunes Rankings

The iTunes rankings were VASTLY improved this week! While Sam Woolf was the only finalist to chart in the Top 200 last week, all 5 singers made it into the Top 300 this week. Alex Preston continues his march into the finals, with a Top 50 song. “Say Something” is now charting at #33. Look at Jena Irene at #271. Marybe she would have fared better with a recording of “Valerie”. The Young the Giant song was an alternative hit, but not a big pop charter. Ditto Caleb Johnson. His closing number, “Still of the Night” was a much stronger performance. I’ll bet fans were disappointed not to find it.

#33 – Alex Preston – Say Something
#115 – Jessica Meuse – Summertime Sadness
#132 – Sam Woolf – How to Save a Life
#223 – Caleb Johnson – I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing
#271 – Jena Irene – My Body

Poll Results

Favorite Performance

Jena Irene’s “My Body” was clearly more popular to blog readers than to iTunes buyers, earning 13% of the vote. No one performance ran away with the vote this week. But I don’t think it’s surprising that Alex Preston’s “Say Something” and Caleb Johnson’s “Still of the Night” are #1 and #2 respectively.  Jessica Meuse earned a respectable amount of votes for “Summertime Sadness.”  Really surprised at the unpopularity of Alex’s “Sweater Weather.”  By no means was the song Alex’s best performance, but it was solid.  Both of Sam Woolf’s songs scored below 10%.  “How to Save a Life” fared better, comparatively speaking, on the iTunes chart.

  1. Alex Preston – Say Something 23.64%
  2. Caleb Johnson – Still of the Night 17.59%
  3. Jessica Meuse – Summertime Sadness 15.55%
  4. Jena Irene – My Body 13.39%
  5. Jessica Meuse – Human 12.11%
  6. Sam Woolf – How to Save a Life 8.22%
  7. Jena Irene – Valerie 2.78%
  8. Sam Woolf – Sing 2.74%
  9. Alex Preston – Sweater Weather 2.47%
  10. Caleb Johnson – I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing 1.5%

Favorite Duet or Trio

Well. Obviously.

  1. Caleb and Jess – Beast of Burden 67.39%
  2. Sam, Jena and Alex – Best Day of My Life 32.61%

Favorite Contestant

She didn’t chart high on iTunes. Her songs weren’t your favs. But Jena Irene is your favorite contestant this week. However, Jessica Meuse is such a close second, I’d call it  a statistical tie.  The rest are not too far behind. I would say, at this point, the really polarizing contestants are gone.  Dexter Roberts or CJ Harris are no longer around to torture people.  Sam Woolf  is somewhat controversial, since he was booted once. If he sticks around this week, he’ll be the target of a fair share of wrath, I suspect.

  1. Jena Irene 25.41%
  2. Jessica Meuse 24.86%
  3. Alex Preston 19.58%
  4. Caleb Johnson 15.76%
  5. Sam Woolf 14.39%

Who SHOULD Go Home

…Because an overwhelming number of you think Sam should go home this week. I agree. He was certainly the weakest singer last night. But he’s also the weakest singer left. Sam got 3 extra weeks after his save. It was a good run.

  1. Sam Woolf 58.58%
  2. Jessica Meuse 18.01%
  3. Jena Irene 10.61%
  4. Caleb Johnson 7.5%
  5. Alex Preston 5.3%

Who WILL Go Home?

Fewer of you think Sam WILL go home tonight. I’m not so sure. Sam is puppy dog adorable, while Jessica Meuse can rub viewers the wrong way. She was in the bottom 2 last week DESPITE very strong performances the night before. She’s in a weakened position right now. The judges have stopped criticizing her harshly. But that could actually hasten her demise, as the panic votes have subsided. Although, I have to say, I was in a bit of a panic last night–voting for her like mad. I think she deserves to stay.

  1. Sam Woolf 50.42%
  2. Jessica Meuse 36.27%
  3. Jena Irene 5.93%
  4. Caleb Johnson 4.53%
  5. Alex Preston 2.84%

PREDICTION: Should I toss a coin? My meager prognostication skills have been put to the test. Jessica, overall, has better performances than Sam–particularly last night.  Sam is a cute young boy that nobody wants to see cry. Jess can rub fans the wrong way.  Yet, Jess became an underdog when the judges began criticizing her harshly.  But the judges have eased up, so the panic voting has subsided. Sam has been eliminated once already. Isn’t it time to finally send him home? Jessica has been in the bottom two weeks in a row now… DANG. I’m going with my gut aka WISHFUL THINKING.  Sam Woolf and Jessica Meuse will be in the bottom 2. Sam Woolf will be sent home for real this time.

Did America Choose Wisely?

I agree! For the most part they did. But the fan who suggested the Asteroid song for Caleb Johnson needs to seriously reexamine their life choices.

  1. YES! 60.63%
  2. No. 39.37%
