American Idol 12 Top 7 – Poll Results and Predictions (VIDEO)

AMERICAN IDOL: Burnell Taylor performs on AMERICAN IDOL Wednesday, April 3 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. CR: Michael Becker / FOX. Copyright: FOX.

Yesterday was a REALLY long day. I didn’t realize until this afternoon that I didn’t put up the elimination polls last night. Oops. My bad. But we have a small sample over the course of a few hours of voting that I believe reflects the outcome in any case.

As far as your FAVORITE performance, here are the Top 3:

Angela Miller’s cover of the Evanescence tune, “Bring Me To Life” earned the top spot with 28.34% of the vote. Amber Holcomb’s Whitneyized “What About Love” is second, with 20.42% of the vote and Janell Arthur rounds out the Top 3. Her country-fried take on Billy Joel, “You May Be Right”, earned %17.34 of the vote.

Kree Harrison and Candice Glover were 4th and 5th respectively, which has me a little worried.

Burnell Taylor and Lazaro Arbos will take two spots in the Bottom 3. But now that we’ve run out of terrible guys–which girl will round out the Bottom 3? Kree performed in the death spot (3rd) and had a low energy performance. Candice wasn’t at her best. I think either could take that 3rd spot–or maybe even be the season’s SHOCKING SHOCKING BOOT. No worries, of course. If either is eliminated, the judges probably won’t even make them sing for their lives, the save will be handed out that fast.

If Lazaro is eliminated, he won’t be saved. And I know there is a big elephant in the room. The finals are short one contestant, meaning the save HAS to be used at some point to enable the season to end on May 14. In any case, there is NO way the judges will save Lazaro. If Burnell is eliminated, I think a rescue is possible, DESPITE Nicki declaring on twitter that she won’t be saving boys. The save ultimately rests in the hands of the producers, I believe. If need be, Nicki could be persuaded to change her mind.

But if they don’t save anyone tonight, they’ve technically still got another week. But is there any reason for  “save by Top 6” to be a hard and fast rule? The double elimination WON’T be a complication this season. There is no compelling reason keeping the producers from changing the game. Come to think of it–has ANYONE actually heard Ryan Seacrest say “WE MUST USE THE SAVE BY TOP 6” this season? Maybe I missed it, but I don’t think so. ETA: Apparently, Ryan Seacrest said it while standing with Devin in front of the judges last week. Doesn’t mean TPTB can’t change the rules.

Anyhoo. Those who voted overwhelmingly believe Lazaro Arbos SHOULD be heading home tonight. But you all think that it will be Burnell Taylor instead. I (think I) agree. Burnell had a lackluster solo performance, first in the line up. His duet with Candice was solid, but she dominated him so thoroughly, I’m not sure anyone noticed. So. Burnell it is. Lazaro lives to mangle the Bacharach-David catalog!

Bottom 3:

Lazaro Arbos
Burnell Taylor
Kree Harrison or Candice Glover

Going Home:

Burnell Taylor
