American Idol 12 Top 3 – Poll Results and Predictions

AMERICAN IDOL: Kree Harrison performs on AMERICAN IDOL Wednesday, May 8 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. CR: Michael Becker / FOX. Copyright: FOX.

The poll results are IN and there are mostly no surprises.

Your  favorite performance is Candice Glover’s “Somewhere” with 33% of the vote. Kree Harrison’s “Here Comes Goodbye” is second with 26% of the vote and Angie Miller’s “Try” is 3rd. Her “Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word” is 4th with 12% of the vote. I am surprised it’s not the highest rated of Angie’s 3 songs.  The judges loved it best, and it seems to be a critic’s fav.

The rest of the songs are bunched up at the bottom, under 5%. Kree’s Better Dig Two and Perfect rounded out the bottom.

Your favorite contestant is a really close race! Candice Glover edges out Angie Miller by less than a percentage point! They both earned about 36% of the vote. Kree Harrison is right behind them at 27%

Judges Choice was the favorite theme at 70%. Producers Choice is next at 17% and Jimmy’s choice is 3rd with 12% of the vote.

Kree Harrison topped both the Who SHOULD go home and Who WILL go home polls. But more of you believe Kree will go home than she deserves to get the boot. It’s the reverse for Angie. More of you feel Angie deserves to go home than believe she will go home.

Who should go home: Kree 45%, Angie 38%, Candice 17%
Who will go home: Kree 63%, Candice 19%, Angie 18%

I have been rooting for a Candice/Kree finale for weeks. And if I’m being honest, I can’t say that’s changed. Although, I do acknowledge how hard Angie has fought to take the crown. She’s a competitive and smart player. If she advances, I can’t be mad. She peaked at the same time Kree began to lose momentum.

Last night’s performances felt like a draw to me. Each of the girls had at least one GREAT performance. And ITA with Jimmy that each won a round (R1: Angie R2: Kree R3: Candice) although I think it’s arguable that Candice took the night.

But I don’t think last night’s performances matter. By Top 3, fans have their favorites, and will vote for them no matter how they do. There were no game changing performances last night (a la Kris Allen’s “Heartless”) that would change the minds of casual voters. The prediction in my head hasn’t changed week to week.

And my prediction is the same as yours. Kree Harrison will be eliminated tonight, leaving Candice Glover and Angie Miller to battle it out in the finals. If Angie advances, it will be the 2nd time a contestant from the Northeast made the Top 2 (Justin Guarini hails from Philly, but Georgia likes to claim him too!). And a first for New England.
