Tonight, the Top 12 girls take the Idol stage! After last night’s mediocre showing from the guys, I’m hoping the girls bring it tonight. I think there are some very talented girls, but by and large, they aren’t as distinguishable from each other as the boys are.
My thoughts on each of the girls’ chances to advance to the Top 13.
Baylie Brown – Girl’s got a really good voice and she’s very pretty. She seems to be a favorite, so I’m going to say she’s headed for the Top 12 – YES
Brielle Von Hugel – Her horrible Hollywood edit pretty much doomed this girl. She and her mom will be heading back to Jersey come Thursday – NO
Chelsea Sorrell – If Chelsea nails the Carrie Underwood song she’s reportedly singing tonight, she’ll advance – Maybe
Elise Testone – Elise hasn’t had much screen time. The bits we’ve seen of her reveals a hard worker with a good voice. She’s supposedly singing an Adele song tonight (the same one as Jen Hirsh), so I don’t know…I’ll give her a maybe – MAYBE.
Erika Van Pelt – She’s reportedly singing “What About Love” by Heart. If she nails it, she has a chance. – Maybe
Haley Johnsen – She’s supposedly singing “Sweet Dreams Are Made of This”. This is a risky pick. It could either be a a moment or a disaster. Haley is another one we haven’t seen much of – MAYBE
Hallie Day – She’s got a great big voice, but no personality to speak of, suicide attempt backstory notwithstanding. I’m going to say she’ll get lost in the blonds tonight – NO
Hollie Cavanaugh – Hollie is reportedly singing Christina Aguilera’s “Reflection”. Hollie’s got a good voice, but this song choice could go very wrong. I’m going to give her a maybe – Maybe
Jen Hirsh – Jen has been mostly impressive throughout the Hollywood Rounds. If she nails the Adele song she’s supposedly sharing with Elise Testone, she’ll advance. I’m leaning toward yes. YES.
Jessica Sanchez – Jessica is a breakout star due to a couple of very good performances in Hollywood. She’s supposedly singing Jennifer Hudson tonight. I’m going to say she advances – YES
Shannon Magrane – She’s young. She’s blond. She’s got no style or personality to speak of. I say she goes home – NO
Skylar Laine – Plucky country singer Skyler may piss off the folks from PETA (She likes to kill deer), but she still has the opportunity to advance is she sings real good tonight. – MAYBE
