American Idol 11 Auditions Head to Houston Texas

The very last city of cattle call auditions for American Idol 11 are underway today in Houston TX.

An estimated 10, 000 hopefuls turned up at Reliant Stadium this morning at 5 am after registering Wednesday and Thursday.

Host Ryan Seacrest appeared shortly after sunrise to get the crowd going and shoot some TV spots.

“It’s been a minute since we’ve been here. I think when we came, the consensus was it (Houston) wasn’t quite what we needed it to be, ” he said. “But I have hope that this year we’re going to find some talent and bring it back to Hollywood. If we can find a handful to take back, we’re in good shape.”

Hopefuls were let into the stadium just before 8 a.m. and performed in large groups. Those who make it through the cattle call and producers rounds will perform next week in front of Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson. The last time Idol auditioned in Houston was 2003.

“I think that honesty is something that the judges are looking for, ” Ryan said about the talent, “They’re looking for somebody that’s got heart, that’s got talent, that may not be at the perfect spot, that they can mold a little bit.”
