Top 24 CONFIRMED: Ryan announced at the end of the show, “We get down to your Top 24”.
I AM OFFICIALLY EXCITED! Nigel should pat himself on the back. The Hollywood rounds so far have been fantastic. Tonight he really delivered. It was non-stop singing for the entire hour, and in that time, there was talent that definitely emerged.
Haley Reinhart, Ashton Jones, Brett Loewenstern, Robbie Rosen, and Casey Abrams are singers I’m looking forward to hearing again. And hey, how about that Casey? I wasn’t that impressed with him initially, but his original take on the classic “Georgia” really impressed me.
Not so impressed with Chris Medina, who honestly thinks white guys singing acoustic versions of R&B songs is novel? It’s not even novel on Idol (See: Garcia, Andrew).
Lauren Alaina’s kissing up to Steven Tyler has now crossed the line to annoying. PLEASE STOP.
I’m surprised they advanced Ashley Sullivan after her meltdown on stage. The producers must think she’ll continue to bring the lulz in Las Vegas. Scott McCreery is turning into a 1 trick pony. He’s got an unusual voice, but I think we’ve seen everything he’s got already.
The 60 remaining hopefuls head to Las Vegas, where hopefully they do some justice to the great, great Beatles’ catalog. I’m looking forward to it.
The group rounds are over. Tonight, the remaining 100 contestants will perform solos for the judges. At the end of the day, only 60 hopefuls will survive.
