Amelia Eisenhauer American Idol 2016 Season 15 Top 24
Amelia Eisenhauer is a 16-year-old singer from Nashville, Tennessee, who started her music career when she was 6. Since her introduction to music, Amelia has become a skilled virtuoso and can play over 5 instruments. Other interesting facts about Amelia are that she enjoys songwriting, performing and talking to her followers on social media.Originally from Illinois, in 2012 Amelia and her family moved to Nashville. They had hopes of helping the budding performer and her brother become a recording artist and session musician respectively. However, with time, rather than stick to the original plan, Amelia, her brother and mother decided instead to come together and form a family band. Named The Eisenhauer Band, Amelia fronts the group with her singing and instrument playing. Together with new recruit Bryan Ward, who plays bass, the band released a cover album in early 2014 called Under The Influence. According to their Facebook, Amelia and The Eisenhauer Band cite John Mayer, Dolly Parton, Mumphord and Sons, James Taylor and Nickel Creek among others as their influences. In their band description they describe themselves as a “family Americana band who loves to play and kick some GRASS!”
Over this past summer Amelia was asked to audition by an American Idol casting producer. Receiving the green light, Amelia traveled to Atlanta, where she auditioned for the celebrity judges. According to The Idol Pad, Amelia received a golden ticket to Hollywood and advanced to the Showcase round, where she performed New York State Of Mind, by Billy Joel, with a violin. Giving a strong enough performance, Amelia was then admitted to the top 24.

Overall Thoughts: There is something very endearing and genuine about this singer that I really connect with. With a look that reminds me of a mix of Lindsey Sterling and a young Felicia Day, Amelia’s biggest attributes are her musical versatility and her relatable personality. I’ll be rooting for Amelia this season, but if I had to give her any advice it would be to give extra thought to song choices. Amelia will succeed or fail on American Idol based on the songs she does, but I also don’t want that to scare her away from taking risks every so often. In addition, Amelia will be going up against one of the strongest batches of girls I have ever seen on Idol, so it will be integral that she finds a way to separate herself musically from the other girls. My suggestion is for her to show off how versatile of a performer she is and keep bringing in and incorporating the many different instruments she plays. I have a soft spot for Amelia and I think America is going to love her if she sticks around long enough. I really hope she makes it into the top 10.
- Boston, by Augustana
- We’re Going To Be Friends, by The White Stripes
- Ho Hey, by The Lumineers. This would be extra amazing if she incorporates her violin.
