Tonight a new episode of The Amazing Race airs tonight on CBS. Read a live recap of the episode here.
Adam and Bethany came in first place in the last leg of the race and are the first to learn they must fly to Manila, the capital of the Philippines. They go to a travel agency and book the earliest flight available. Brooke and Robbie are the next team to go to the travel agency and book the same flight as Adam and Bethany. Misti and Jim and Amy and Maya go to the airport instead of a travel agency, but Amy and Maya get on a phone on the drive there to book their flights. Since Misti and Jim waited until they got to the airport to book their flights, they learn there is not enough flights. So they must get on a different flight.
Amy and Maya confront Brooke and Robbie about misleading them to the wrong place in the last leg of the race, but are still unsure if it was an intentional lie. Meanwhile, Misti and Jim are in last place since they had to book a different flight since the one the other three teams boarded was sold out by the time they bought their tickets.
The top three teams get in taxis and arrive at the destination. They learn they cannot pick up their clue until 6:30am the next morning, so it’s an equalizer that helps Misti and Jim. All teams are now on equal footing.
When they get their next clue, the teams learn they must go to Rosario Municipal Plaza to find their next clue. On the drive there, the teams are surprised with how bad the living conditions are. Seeing children living in poor conditions brings Misti to tears.
Detour Time. “Catch” or “Coach.” They must fill buckets with fish or assemble a sidecar and attach it to a motorcycle. Brooke and Robbie choose “Catch,” but the other three teams choose “Coach” instead. The teams must be driven in a motor tricycle to get to the Detour, but Amy and Maya did not read their clue carefully and are walking to the Detour instead, which could cost them a penalty. However, they finally realize their mistake and go back and get into a motor tricycle.
Brooke and Robbie get started on their Detour. They make their way into the ocean and collect fish in a bucket. They need to collect three buckets full of fish to complete their task. At the “Coach” Detour, Adam and Bethany and Misti and Jim get started on assembling their sidecars. Later on, Amy and Maya finally arrive at the “Coach” Detour as well.
All teams are working on their tasks without too much trouble. However, Brooke and Robbie’s task is difficult and tedious, and they have a hard time dealing with how gross the task is. Brooke also cuts her finger, but they manage to continue on. Jim and Adam are experienced with putting things together, so they feel confident while working. Amy and Maya aren’t as confident, but they work on assembling the sidecar without any problems.
Misti and Jim have their sidecar inspected first, but they do not pass. Rain also starts pouring, making all the teams have a more difficult time with their tasks. Misti and Jim fail their second inspection, still not realizing their mistake of their shock installation not being connected.
Brooke and Robbie complete their task and are currently in first place. Adam and Bethany pass their first inspection and are now in second place. They learn they must make their way to the rice fields. Misti and Jim ask for a third inspection, but fail once again.
Jim finally realizes his mistake as Amy and Maya fail their first inspection. Meanwhile, Brooke and Robbie are surprised they are currently in first place. They reach the clue box, open their clue, and find out what their next task is. They must do the infamous plowing with a water ox task from season 5 which caused Colin (from Colin and Christie) to have a meltdown and hilariously shout out “My ox is broken!”
Misti and Jim finally pass their Detour and can make their way to the rice fields. As Brooke and Robbie are still working, Adam and Bethany arrive. They get to work too. Back at the “Coach” Detour, Amy and Maya pass and make their way to the rice fields too.
Misti and Jim and Amy and Maya arrive before anyone finds a clue, so all teams are now working at the same time. Brooke and Robbie are now disappointed they lost their lead, but they are not the only ones having a very tough time with the task. Steering the ox and maneuvering through the mud is a struggle for all of them.
Misti and Jim are the first team to find a clue, but Amy and Maya find one just seconds afterwards. They must now search on foot for Phil and the next Pit Stop. The rice farm is the Pit Stop. Misti and Jim arrive at the Pit Stop first, but Amy and Maya join them just minutes afterwards. It was a close footrace, but it’s Misti and Jim who win a trip to Vietnam.
Adam and Bethany and Brooke and Robbie find their clue at the same time too! It’s another close footrace to the Pit Stop, but Adam and Bethany are Team #3. However, Brooke and Robbie are not eliminated as this is a non-elimination leg.
