AGT: Fantasy League – Watch dancer Musa Motha who lost a leg to cancer move and inspire the audience and judges

America’s Got Talent: Fantasy League will feature the final 10 contestants on Monday (Jan 22) before heading into the semi-finals. The latest preview from NBC highlights dancer, Musa Motha, who unfortunately could not be in the United States for his audition, so he beams in from the UK instead.

Simon Cowell reveals that Musa couldn’t perform in person because the “paperwork to fly wasn’t done in time.” Who screwed THAT up! Regardless, Simon is happy that he could be on the show. Musa was a contestant on Britain’s Got Talent earlier this year. After the BGT audience “insisted” on it, the judges gave the contemporary dancer the audience Golden Buzzer. Eventually, he made it all the way to fifth place in the finals.

Musa explains that initially, while growing up in South Africa, he dreamed of becoming a professional football (soccer) player. But a cancer diagnosis at 10 years of age meant the loss of one of his legs, which ended his sports dreams. But then he discovered dance. It made him feel “happy and excited.”

Simon’s first choice during the Fantasy League draft was Musa. Simon suggests that this time, he perform alone rather than alongside background dancers on stage. “I think you are the star,” he insists. Musa is nervous that performing remotely means he won’t be able to feed off of the audience. But Simon has faith, revealing that he believes Musa should have WON Britain’s Got Talent.

Musa dances without a prosthetic leg, but uses a metal crutch for balance and as a creative prop. Remarks from the BGT judges remarks are incorporated into the routine (which is a little jarring, and probably confusing to folks who don’t watch the UK show). However, Musa is a passionate performer who knows how to move an audience.

“You’re really cute! Flawless and gorgeous”

The judges and crowd are on their feet afterward. Musa apparently can’t see what’s happening in the studio. Simon shares that “about 1,500 people are on their feet, some people in tears.” He adds, “Even though it was remote, it was close.” Simon calls Musa “exceptional.”

Howie Mandel says, “To think that somebody who loses a leg and loses the opportunity to play football would make their next choice dancing is so unbelievable.” He adds, “And you have reached such heights. There are people with twice as many legs as you that don’t come close to what I just witnessed right here.”

Mel B. shares that she went to dance college and trained as a dancer. “And I didn’t have half as much control or technique that you have.” Mel hoped that Musa “opened up the door for more of this.” She calls him elegant and adds, “You’re really cute! Flawless and gorgeous.”

Heidi Klum mentions that the vote is next, so it appears the young dancer closed the show. Simon must have used his Golden Buzzer (he has it this week) earlier in the show.
