America’s Got Talent 2023 Preview: El Invertebrado SCARES the judges, brings the audience to their feet

El Invertebrado, who combines pole dancing and contortion, starts of his America’s Got Talent audition with a scare jump in front of the judges panel. “I almost said a bad word!” Sofia Vergara claims afterward.

In an early release clip from the June 20 Auditions 4 episode, the act jumps back on stage to perform a pole dance routine. The creature looks like a Zombie from the Night of the Living dead searching for their next meal. It’s a rather odd juxtaposition.

But there’s more! The creature is also a contortionist who can twist themselves up in a pretzel on the floor, or climb the pole with their leg positioned behind their neck. “He doesn’t look human!” Heidi Klum exclaims.

The routine ends with El Invertebrado wrapped around the pole in the most uncomfortable looking position. He’s clinging to it with his feet, but twisted around their body as if they were arms. The trick brings Howie Mandel to his feet.

The creepy act elicits a standing ovation from the audience. Fans will have to tune into America’s Got Talent on Tuesday (June 20) to find out how the judges reacted. But it’s likely that Simon Cowell and the rest of the judges panel gave El Invertebrado 4 yeses.

Gabriel Georgiev is El Invertebrado, an aerialist contortionist who was a Semifinalist on Season 1 of Dominicana’s Got Talent in 2019

America’s Got Talent 2023 airs on NBC Tuesdays at 8 pm ET/PT
