Adam Lambert Excited to Perform at the AMAs, Recording with Howard Benson

Adam Lambert

World Premiere Exclusive: Adam Pasc...
World Premiere Exclusive: Adam Pascal Talks & Sings 'Maria'
talks Paula Abdul, Michael Jackson, the upcoming album and his performance at next month’s American Music Awards with Laura Saltman of Access Hollywood. The interview took place after Adam announced the AMA nominations with Paula Abdul and Snoop Dogg.

He also addresses a couple of persistent rumors:   So far there’s no confirmation that Adam will either be appearing on Saturday Night Live, or touring with Lady Gaga

Adam describes his upcoming album as a pop album where “old meets new”.   The melodic and vocal stylings will be reminiscent of 70’s classic rock and glam rock, he says, but produced in a way that’s very modern.   He can’t wait to stage a live performance of his new single on the American Music Awards, where he is set to perform.

And as Adam told Ryan Seacrest on the Idol host’s radio show yesterday, the lead single from the album hasn’t been chosen yet…

Also, Laura hints that she’s got more news that’s embargoed until Tuesday, so stay tuned.

As if performing on the AMA’s and having his music video for “Time For Miracles” debut with the Michael Jackson documentary, This is It, isn’t enough news for one news cycle..

Bonus Tidbit:   Last night, Adam tweeted news of a new collaboration, “Workin w Howard Benson tonight!!!! This album is gonna be Siiiiiiiiiiiick“.

Howard Benson produced both albums by Daughtry.   Add Benson to the list of collabs that include, Rob Cavallo, RedOne, Linda Perry, Ryan Tedder, Max Martin, Dr. Luke and Claude Kelly.

UPDATE: New tweet from Adam, “Thanks to @ali22san and @ohferras for coming to the studio and lending their voices to the song we wrote together!!”

  1. Seems the Howard Benson recording session, may have been a song that Ferras, Alisan Porter, and Ely Rise had been involved in given the tweets!

OhFerras: Just killed it in the studio with his amazingness!

    ali22san:
History Tonight!!!! and a dream coming true for me. I love you music gods

In the studio, dying. He’s killing. And you all know what I’m talking bout.

elythecreep: RT @ali22san: @OhFerras @adamlambert @elythecreep. Double yay!…Not sure if I should shit my pants, cum, or puke…dying

  2. Love Laura Saltman & Adam interviews…they’re soooooo cute together!!!!

  3. Really fun interview! Now what is the big news that must wait until Tuesday to be spilled??? Even Adam looked a bit perplexed by that one.

  4. Sorry if this has already been posted, but to many threads to go through! Sorry MJ don’t mean to go off topic!

    Brandy on Adam last night!

  5. Adam gives good interview.

Did he say he had written (not co-written) tracks for his upcoming album? Oh my gosh, Adam is a singer/songwriter/performer!

    I like this part:
‘I don’t really do anything by being careful, I like to take risks. If I were being cautious or careful I wouldn’t be being myself.’

  6. Did he say he had written (not co-written) tracks for his upcoming album? Oh my gosh, Adam is a singer/songwriter/performer!

I would be shocked if Adam had a single tune on his album for which he received sole writing credit. Just not gonna happen.

  7. It’s funny when celebrities see Adam, they act star struck. They seem to forget that they, themselves, are actually bigger than he is.

  8. I think he meant co-wrote, but he still contributed.

He is so gorgeous inside and out, I just adore him. Laura must have been on cloud 9 from that greeting.

  9. Really fun interview! Now what is the big news that must wait until Tuesday to be spilled??? Even Adam looked a bit perplexed by that one.

I don’t know if it is news or a surprise for Adam.

Adam and Laura are so sweet together. He always gives her a big, affectionate hug.

  10. Hard to keep it real with all this hype going on, I would lock myself in the studio and never come out…

  11. It’s funny when celebrities see Adam, they act star struck. They seem to forget that they, themselves, are actually bigger than he is.

I had this same reaction until I noticed that Brandy has just a little more than half the Twitter followers as Adam.

Now, followers and fame are not always correlated, but she’s been tweeting far longer than he has.

  12. Love the way this begins, with Adam rushing to meet Laura. And then the hugs and kiss. Heartwarming and very sweet in a bi-curious sort of way.

    elythecreep is gross

    Hence the name.

  14. Now, followers and fame are not always correlated, but she’s been tweeting far longer than he has.

Twitter followers are not evidence of anything. Some very lame people have loads of followers. While Brandy may have been bumped from the “A” list long ago, she has farm more, documented success than Adam.

  15. I loved this interview, Laura is such a fangirl and that hug at the begining was precious, i hope the SNL rumor turns out to be true.

  16. While Brandy may have been bumped from the ‘A’ list long ago, she has farm more, documented success than Adam.

    I never claimed otherwise.

I do wonder what their Q-ratings are right now, though.

  17. aa618892,

I so agree with you, so hard to concentrate on the interview when the eyes are enhanced by the awesome colored shirt!!!

And to bring up a sore subject to some, has Adam had some skin treatments since he has been locked in the studio recording, cause his skin looks so awesome?

Maybe someone who has seen him in person recently can weigh in to say whether this is just a tv/photo appearance or whether it is apparent in person as well…

  18. Wonder why she made the comment that his album needed to play to the AI audience. (paraphrasing.) That is really a strange comment IMO since Adam is obviously trying to go way outside the AI audience and particularly since the “AI audience” did not put him in the winner’s seat…(meaning the majority voters may not have liked his style, music, whatever.)

Am I just interpreting this wrong?

Also, I am trying to think of the last song I heard that made me laugh. LOL

  19. That interview is adorable as usual. Adam knows from him fangirl entertainment reporter base and I love their rapport.

Dying to know what the embargoed information is. Amazing, his PR people must have had a spread sheet with all of the information they planned to divulge throughout the day and doled it out accordingly.

    Ryan: AMA announcement
    MTV: TFM running with TII
    Laura: ??? (embargoed until Tuesday)

Too bad Lyndsey was in New York, but it sounded like RCA gave Cavallo license to speak freely.

    Where’s EW’s scoop?

  20. If you’ve ever followed Ely, you will see that all he talks about is sex, and not in a romantic way. I stopped following him a while back. The constant boner talk and relief wasn’t so funny after awhile.

  21. And to bring up a sore subject to some, has Adam had some skin treatments since he has been locked in the studio recording, cause his skin looks so awesome?

The Bare Minerals make-up he’s been using is very good for the skin. I’ve been using it and have noticed a big difference as well. I’m sure he’s probably had few facials as well, but yes his skin looks great.

  22. OMG! I havn’t posted anything for awhile but I’ve been checking in daily, I am soooo thrilled at the Adam storm going on right now!

  23. Wonder why she made the comment that his album needed to play to the AI audience. (paraphrasing.) That is really a strange comment IMO since Adam is obviously trying to go way outside the AI audience and particularly since the ‘AI audience’ did not put him in the winner’s seat’ ¦(meaning the majority voters may not have liked his style, music, whatever.)

Good observation. That was kind of a faux pas on Laura’s part. You have to expand yourself out of the idol bubble to be successful. It seems Adam has been pretty successful doing just that.

  24. Good interview….I only wish we knew about the Oprah situation so we could have gotten her to ask about whether he will be on or not. I love listening to Adam almost as much as I love hearing him sing. He is so articulate.

It’s funny when celebrities see Adam, they act star struck. They seem to forget that they, themselves, are actually bigger than he is.

    get outta here….Bigger then Adam….surely you jest…. ;-)

  26. Yesterday’s news was great and all, but now I am right back to square one with just wanting to hear some damn music. All the squeeing and flailing in the world will be for naught if the music sucks.

From what he said about not even knowing the first single, well, it doesn’t give me very high hopes that it’s coming this week anytime. How can they really not know which one they want to release?

dyg- Brandy is an R&B singer, mostly remembered for her duet with Monica on the song The Boy Is Mine. She also has done some acting and her brother was in the reality show For The Love Of Ray J.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brandy_(entertainer)

  27. I love listening to Adam almost as much as I love hearing him sing. He is so articulate.

Me too dhunken, he so relaxed in his interviews.

  28. How can they really not know which one they want to release?

The only obvious answer is that every song is so f*kin’ great that they cannot make up their collective minds. Good answer? :-)

  29. Wonder why she made the comment that his album needed to play to the AI audience.

Adam wanted to come off as a rock god on AI and after establishing a fan base that was expecting one thing, he is now changing it a bit. To some fans (not me), that may matter. Lindsay Parker said the same thing to Cavallo yesterday. It’s a valid point.

  30. Dallas
Also, I am trying to think of the last song I heard that made me laugh. LOL

That is sort of an odd way to describe a song, isn’t it? Hmmm, I think the last one that made me laugh was Gaga’s Love Game. When I first heard the “I wanna take a ride on your discostick” line I cracked the hell up.

That would be awesome if Adam had a song with a couple of LOLworthy lyrics. Actually, now that I think about it, his past songwriting has had some (intentional? unintentional?) laugh lines, I think “bendy bendy, bangy bangy, lose your mind on all my candy” may take the prize.

  31. The constant boner talk and relief wasn’t so funny after awhile.

ZOMG!!! Boys get boners and think about them ‘“ and they apparently like it! And do not check with us first to make sure we would be ok with this! And didn’t give us the opportunity to approve in the first place!
    Gadzooks

  32. I understand the AI fanbase hoping for some rock, but the way she worded the question seemed awkward like he was expected to put out an album based on AI (kinda like those were the only folks who are going to buy or who know about him.)

I discovered him through AI but I SO want the day to come where his name and AI are not mentioned in the same sentence.

The way Lyndsey phrased it was (paraphrasing) “aren’t you afraid some of your AI fans are going to be disappointed that it’s not rock like AI” which is valid. I’ve said the same thing. Some will be.

  33. The only obvious answer is that every song is so f*kin’ great that they cannot make up their collective minds. Good answer?

That’s the answer I am hoping for Dallas. Sure hope it’s not creative differences.

Maybe….Heavy on the maybe….they both asked this question to help dispel any questions that Adam is being forced to make an “AI” generic album. Because honestly we will be getting the Adam we got on AI.

    1) Have know idea what he will come up with but excited to hear it none the less.

    2) There will be the rock edge.

    3) there will be amazing vocals

    4) Eclectic-not really pigeonholed into any one special type. (on the show we had Mad World Adam, WLL Adam, Felling Good Adam, Change is gonna come Adam)

So I see the question as more of an affirmation that Adam’s Album will be him and not some reinvented safe version to appeal to those who did not vote for him.

  35. Also, I am trying to think of the last song I heard that made me laugh. LOL

I think for me it was probably “Camel Toe” lol.

Oh, and there is a really funny one on Youtube called ” Show Me Your Genitals”.

  36. Adam wanted to come off as a rock god on AI and after establishing a fan base that was expecting one thing, he is now changing it a bit. To some fans (not me), that may matter. Lindsay Parker said the same thing to Cavallo yesterday.

Do you think he actually wanted to come off as a rock god?? I mean, to me, rewatching those episodes, when Kara and Randy were saying those things, he looked a bit embarrassed. I also think he didn’t just stick to a rock god style on the show. Tracks of my tears, Ring of Fire, Play that Funky Music and especially Mad World were definitely not Rock God territory. I think Adam wanted to come off as a diverse artist, which IMO, he did.

  37. Maybe someone who has seen him in person recently can weigh in to say whether this is just a tv/photo appearance or whether it is apparent in person as well’ ¦

I haven’t actually seen Adam in person, but reports from many who got near him on tour were that he looks more striking in person than he does in videos and pics.

Adam seems to be one of those rare people who lights up a room when he enters and then sucks out all the air when he leaves.

    Too many LOL’s here today.

So, if Adam has co-written some of the songs, will this mean he gets some royalties from them, if any of them are released as singles and/or album sales?

  40. Man, there are some really great lulz on here today (halfie, I’m lookin’ at you)…thanks guys…after the weekend I had, you all make me smile.

  41. I just keep getting more and more curious about this “Fusion” music, however if anyone can pull it off it would be ADAM! He can start his own new genre.

  42. @dhunken. So I see the question as more of an affirmation that Adam’s Album will be him and not some reinvented safe version to appeal to those who did not vote for him.

Good point. I loved his vocals, particularly the rocker wail he is able to accomplish with perfect pitch. I want music and I am prepared to love whatever he puts out because I love his vocals.

@larc he looks more striking in person than he does in videos and pics.

I can say, having seen him close up, that he is one of the most beautiful people (persons?) I have ever come into contact with. It is hard to put into words.

yep, it’s funny. but not day after day from someone over 14 on a public forum.

here is another one of their “funny” posts for you halfie:

DILDO MUCH? How’s ur PLAYTEX GENTLE GUIDE ?ahahahahaha

  44. Moved from headline thread — haven’t read this thread yet so it is out of context:

Regarding Laura’s Interview with Adam. She pre-promoed that she has a surprise for Adam. She said at the end of the video that it can’t be shown online until Tuesday because it is embargoed.

My interpretation is that Laura has information about something related to Adam from another source that is embargoed (can’t be revealed by the press) until Tuesday 10/20/09. She wanted to interview Adam about it but she would not be able to reveal it until 10/10/09.

I do not believe that she messed up the date.

I don’t think it has to do with the release of TfM — Adam said the release date is 10/18/09 in three interviews yesterday; Rob Cavallo said the same release date. But I wonder is there is something special happening on Sunday that ties into 2012/TfM or if they will just release it. My bet is that there will be a 2012 related promotion.

  45. Q3, I agree with you, but still think it has something to do with TfM. She may be surprising him by serenading him, doing a dramatic (Shatneresque) reading of the lyrics, a song parody, you name it. Maybe she has outtakes from the video shoot or something.

  46. Twitter followers are not evidence of anything. Some very lame people have loads of followers.

ha, so true. didnt miley cyrus (LAME) have 2 million followers? kim kardashian has 2.5 mil (!), that stupid Heidi girl from the Hills has 675K, etc etc. …….and someone like christane amanpour has only 7K followers. go figure.

the only thing guaranteed with adam’s album is amazing vocals…thats it. artists always claim that their work will be of a certain exciting genre…something new, something all people will like. riiiiiiiiiight. everyone says the same shyt every year. and the end result is hardly ever mindblowing.

  47. But I wonder is there is something special happening on Sunday that ties into 2012/TfM or if they will just release it. My bet is that there will be a 2012 related promotion.

Whatever it was, it was “presented” to Adam yesterday, so the press and photographers must know something too. How can something not leak?

  48. She wanted to interview Adam about it but she would not be able to reveal it until 10/10/09.

Well then she’s late it is 10/14….. spill it Laura…(Just Kidding with you Q3 I know you meant 10/20)

  49. Also, I am trying to think of the last song I heard that made me laugh. LOL

Lilly Allen’s ‘Not Fair’, ‘Fuck You’ ‘Alfie’ and many more

ETA: They made me giggle does that count?

  50. Also, I am trying to think of the last song I heard that made me laugh. LOL

    [attention whoring mode]

Anyone want to make my day by casting a vote for “The (Alien) Immigrant Song”?

    [/awm]

  51. The one that made me laugh the most was Lily Allen’s “Not Big”. Check out the lyrics, funny as hell.

  52. ZOMG!!! Boys get boners and think about them ‘“ and they apparently like it! And do not check with us first to make sure we would be ok with this! And didn’t give us the opportunity to approve in the first place!

And on this note, we all anxiously await halfie’s next tweet ‘“ or not.

… Tracks of my tears, Ring of Fire, Play that Funky Music and especially Mad World were definitely not Rock God territory. I think Adam wanted to come off as a diverse artist, which IMO, he did.

ITA, CindyM. I think Adam went with “Satisfaction” with his Top 36 performance because he saw there was a shortage of rocker types and he knew that was a niche he could nail (well, all of them are niches he could nail). I think it was all part of the strategy and the strategy was to show his diversity.

I really don’t get when people ask him about “how are people going to react to your non-AI sound?” Well his AI sound was totally diverse, so what is anyone anticipating other than insane vocals that can do any style, any genre?

Today they were talking about him on Mark & Brian, widely syndicated morning radio program that generally runs on rock or classic rock stations, and despite a few lame gay jokes from Brian, they were going on about how unbelievably talented they think his is.

Then someone chimed in that they heard a woman recently remark that Adam was so ridiculously attractive that he was almost uninteresting looking to her (she must like herself some freak shows ‘“ j/k).

  53. How can they really not know which one they want to release?

The only obvious answer is that every song is so f*kin’ great that they cannot make up their collective minds. Good answer? :-)

Well, the question of “which is the most radio-friendly” is always kind of hard to answer, isn’t it? There are a lot of elements to that.

  54. Maybe the album will be call Glittery Alien from Planet Fierce – how else can you explain Michelin man?

  55. Nothing leaks around Adam lately. Haven’t you noticed?

I guess he should have sung Supermassive Black Hole on tour then.

  56. This interview is giving me great hope that I will not be disappointed with this album! I love how Adam responds to the question around 2:50 about do you kind of have to be a little careful with his album because you are playing to that Idol audience:

I’m not really — the thing is I don’t really do anything by being careful. I like to take risks, I like to kind of go out there. I feel like if I was being cautious or careful, I wouldn’t be being myself. So — I don’t fell like I’ve had to edit myself or hold back at all on this actually.

It’s been really, really exciting. The team, my team at RCA have been “Like what kind of music do you to make man? Like what to you want to do? So from the getgo they have been really supportive on my vision. And I think we’ve done a really good job of following that.

Note: above quote may not be perfect — but it’s close!

halfie: Q3, I agree with you, but still think it has something to do with TfM. She may be surprising him by serenading him, doing a dramatic (Shatneresque) reading of the lyrics, a song parody, you name it. Maybe she has outtakes from the video shoot or something.

Like Ryan Seacrest reading Twillight New Moon on air. LOL! I hope not!
But I would love a Shatner-Lambert duet! That would be classic.

In all seriousness, there is supposed to be another Adam announcement on 10/20/09. So something else is up. He is already in the two big Sony Pictures properties. So who knows. And I think something must be planned for the TfM release on or before Sunday 10/18/09.

  57. Whatever it was, it was ‘presented’ to Adam yesterday, so the press and photographers must know something too. How can something not leak?

Nothing that is specifically embargoed will leak from a reporter — if it does, then all of Sony and 19 and probably the whole industry would freeze out that reporter.

The few leaks we’ve had have come from people who are not press and not working on the album or it’s promotion — Brian May on 2012 song, the make-up artist “friend” of Adam’s who was at the cover shoot, or totally planned as teasers — Elle mag teasers.

The MTV News article is great! And so the Michelin Man photo is really on the CD. Can’t wait to see this cover!! From the MTV article.

Adam Lambert’s “space, pop, rock, glam alien invasion” (also known as his still-untitled major-label debut) will land on planet Earth on November 24.

That’s our glittery alien they’re talking about!

YMMV but from the very beginning he positioned himself as a rocker (the song the producers choose to show for his audition was BR after all).
PTFM was full of rock waill reminiscent of 70’s and 80’s hair bands something that all his critics emphasized calling it a “screech” and ROF was an arrangement he borrowed from Dilana who performed it on Rockstar Supernova.

TomT and Mad World are ballads, every rock band has a more subdued set of songs, look at Beth for Kiss or Patience for G&R, Queen had a whole set of acoustic songs during their concert where Freddie played the acoustic guitar.

We’ll see how the public will react to a pop version of Adam, I think it’s smart that they try to emphasize the rock influences by recording with producers like Cavallo and Benson.

DishofSalt My Adam Lambert intv for those who have not seen. Thx for all the fun comments. I gave u a hint somewhere btw :) http://bit.ly/2frXt8

Crap, I can’t really watch again at work.

  63. YMMV but from the very beginning he positioned himself as a rocker (the song the producers choose to show for his audition was BR after all).

That was how it was edited. He actually sang “Rock With You,” by Michael Jackson before BoRap.

ETA: So the question is did HE position himself or did the producers? I still think it was all part of the strategy. He assessed what areas were lacking and played to those particular skills. He also knew he could do an impressive rock wail, which is not at all easy to do.

  64. Whatever it was, it was ‘presented’ to Adam yesterday, so the press and photographers must know something too. How can something not leak?

This is exactly why I don’t think Saltman’s 10/20 “news” is really going to be news. There seemed to be a ton of people in that room, not all of whom were reporters. I don’t think Adam’s people would have trusted her talking about embargoed news in a semi-public setting like that.

  66. Gee, it could have been something as simple as showing him a schedule for some show he did not know he was appearing on to surprise him.

    anyone else have any ideas?

  67. I rewatched the video and I rescind my comment about there being a lot of people in the room.

I’ll stand by my prediction that it’s related to TFM, but we shall find out on Tuesday, I suppose.

  68. Gee, it could have been something as simple as showing him a schedule for some show he did not know he was appearing on to surprise him.

I guess that’s possible. Maybe it’s related to Oprah (although I’m sure Adam is aware of Oprah, if it’s happening)?

  69. This is exactly why I don’t think Saltman’s 10/20 ‘news’ is really going to be news. There seemed to be a ton of people in that room, not all of whom were reporters. I don’t think Adam’s people would have trusted her talking about embargoed news in a semi-public setting like that.

By the look on Adam’s face, it didn’t seem it was a news-type of surprise. The look was more like, what are you going to spring on me?

  70. She says she gave us a hint in the interview? Maybe she has Lorne Michaels standing there with a contract in hand with a date for SNL.

  71. Her next tweet (which could support Dallas’ theory ‘“  LOL)

Embargoed information means it’s coming from the source to the media ‘“  not the other way around, so I’m confused by this she’s surprising him angle.

  72. I guess that’s possible. Maybe it’s related to Oprah (although I’m sure Adam is aware of Oprah, if it’s happening)?

From an interview shortly after AI was over, a reporter asked if Adam was getting offers to do different things. He said yes, here and there, but he has people handling all that. He may not know all that is being offered until they are finalized. He may know that the Oprah thing is on the table, but nothing scheduled yet (unless it has to do with 2012). Thus, his vague response regarding SNL.

  73. That was how it was edited. He actually sang ‘Rock With You,’ by Michael Jackson before BoRap.

ETA: So the question is did HE position himself or did the producers? I still think it was all part of the strategy. He assessed what areas were lacking and played to those particular skills. He also knew he could do an impressive rock wail, which is not at all easy to do.

Did you answer your own question? Because it’s pretty clear in his LA Times interview that he choose to position himself as a rocker.

  74. Just before Laura cut off the interview, Adam said something like, “I’m nervous, somebody’s here,” as he was looking off to his left.

  75. Did you answer your own question? Because it’s pretty clear in his LA Times interview that he choose to position himself as a rocker.

My impression from the RS interview is that he positioned himself as the “boy rocker” to cut thru the clutter of the Top 36, and it was not meant to be his strategy for the entire season, and indeed, it wasn’t. He drew from pop music history as much as he did from rock. It’s all moot now, anyway, as the only thing that matters going forward is his own forthcoming CD and its contents.

  76. RE: Embargoed news

My money is on the album cover. Her “clue” via Twitter was her showing Adam a piece of paper or a photo.

  77. Well he did say the album cover pic’s where done didn’t he.. and she talked about the michelen man didn’t she.. maybe there is a connection? I am to lazy to go back and look.. but maybe its album cover related.

  78. Did you answer your own question? Because it’s pretty clear in his LA Times interview that he choose to position himself as a rocker.

Sort of, but my original point was his ultimate goal was to show his diversity, which means he isn’t locked into any one particular genre. I see the “rocker” positioning as a jumping off point, not the sum total of his performances at all.

As indicated in the L.A. Times article (though it’s been awhile since I read it), it goes back to strategy ‘“ he understood the concept of archetypes and they’re relevance early in the competition. He chose to go with that strength because it was underrepresented in the group. If there were Bo, Daughtry and Cook were in his Top 36, I’m sure he would have chose differently.

  79. By the look on Adam’s face, it didn’t seem it was a news-type of surprise. The look was more like, what are you going to spring on me?

    Maybe it’s a giant inflatable kangaroo…

  80. Just before Laura cut off the interview, Adam said something like, ‘I’m nervous, somebody’s here,’ as he was looking off to his left.

Laura began it with she wasn’t sure if she is ready for what’s coming next and took a big breath… so did it seem she was really excited too?

  81. My impression from the RS interview is that he positioned himself as the ‘boy rocker’ to cut thru the clutter of the Top 36, and it was not meant to be his strategy for the entire season, and indeed, it wasn’t. He drew from pop music history as much as he did from rock. It’s all moot now, anyway, as the only thing that matters going forward is his own forthcoming CD and its contents.

Curious to know what song he choose to perform that you consider “pop” (when he wasn’t confined by the theme of the night), but you’re right that it’s all water under the bridge at this point.

  82. FYIn Kris Allen and Susan Boyle’s album covers are on Amazon now.

  83. DishofSalt My Adam Lambert intv for those who have not seen. Thx for all the fun comments. I gave u a hint somewhere btw http://bit.ly/2frXt8

Hmm, well she did drop the word “Grammys”…

  84. Not sure if you all saw in the headlines that Adam confirmed the Michelin Man photo as part of the album shoot and will be in the artwork.

    http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1623816/20091014/lambert_adam_american_idol_.jhtml

Having addressed that, here is some info about David Bowie’s “Ashes to Ashes” video – back in MTV’s heyday. Looks like Adam may not be as far out on a limb as some think:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ashes_to_Ashes_(David_Bowie_song)

I’m gonna trust him on this, he didn’t say it was the cover, just part of the artwork. It’s weird, sure. But I’m willing to see what the final product looks like.

  85. Its Kris dressed as the Michelin Man!

Funny! But maybe it is Kris, or some of the S8 AI peeps that are in LA.

None of them responded to Adam’s tweet about missing them…bastards…. kidding…kind of…

Well he did say the album cover pic’s where done didn’t he.. and she talked about the michelen man didn’t she.. maybe there is a connection? I am to lazy to go back and look.. but maybe its album cover related.

Perhaps you’re onto something here… maybe he’s being presented with the finished cover art… although if she claims there’s a hint in the interview, I didn’t see it w/o knowing who the other people entering the room were that he was looking at….

On the other hand, maybe she’s not so special. MTV asked about the cover art, so maybe several outlets got to see something and are all keeping it under wraps till the 20th, unlike the Salty chick.

  89. I’m with you Rowe, no point in stressing about it and he always surprises. There will be wild stuff, that we can bet on, but I’m willing to jump on and just go for the ride. So far I’m having a blast, so who am I to second-guess the engineers?

  90. Laura Saltman mentioned a hint in an earlier tweet. Did she mean only a taste of Adam before the interview or a hint indeed?

that’s your adam hint. sorry for the blurry photos. my camera sucks! need a new one. here’s paula too http://twitpic.com/lflbtabout 20 hours ago from TweetDeck

    Here http://twitpic.com/lfl5z

Its apic of adam shoing something to laura or vice-versa… anyone sees anything else? could be the cover?

  91. That photo is what gave me the idea that she was showing him a show schedule for him to see his name listed as a guest for a show that he did not realize he was booked on…

Its apic of adam shoing something to laura or vice-versa’ ¦ anyone sees anything else? could be the cover?

Says the photo doesn’t exist anymore???

Doesn’t look like a photo, he’s looking at her not at the paper in her hand. Maybe she’s announcing something? Not sure.

  93. Voile! Some real Adam information (Not silly fotos of 711 and car) bravo! To boss of this blog? or thread? Merci Boku, you are wonderful!!

  94. Oooo! I vote that Laura’s Tuesday scoop is either an SNL appearance or an Oprah appearance (on which they will have video of him delivering items to a Chicago donorschoose project). And even if the scoop is SNL, if he does Oprah, I’m betting on the donorschoose delivery footage to be included on the show.

*I decided I had to join in the speculation at least momentarily. I will now return to my normal taciturn self*

Awww, so sweet. I’d wondered if “Curly Sue” was going to be on Adam’s album. I hope that’s what this means. Even just background vocals. How cool to be able to co-write for, and sing with one of your BFFs on his major label album debut.

  96. And even if the scoop is SNL, if he does Oprah, I’m betting on the donorschoose delivery footage to be included on the show.

    That would be really nice.

Wow, MTV has joined the ‘kissing’ fray:

    http://newsroom.mtv.com/2009/10/14/spotted-adam-lambert-kiss/

Love this article, quite well written surprisingly.

Adam will be having album art which for me confirms a Deluxe version and, I would bet my last penny, an ITunes LP format. I’m so looking forward to the concept, the album is sounding more and more like it may have a well thought out arc going through the art and the music. Something that I don’t think any Idol has had before based on what I’ve seen and heard.

It finding the combination of album info permeating through the recent Cavallo, Saltzman, and MTV features very exciting.
I’m loving every minute, of this ride.

As to the Tuesday surprise, I’m leaning towards Q3’s theory of a presentation of the album cover perhaps, mostly because that’s what I want it to be.

  98. My imagination brain cells must not be working very well today because I can’t imagine a scenario in which that Michelin Man suit would look good — sexy — interesting ??? I just want it to go away and now I hear it may be included in the album art.

The only thing I’m hanging on to is nobody wants him to look goofy on this album cover… so he/they must know what they’re doing. *praying*

Also, my vote on the Lara S “surprise.” I think it’s going to be a not very newsworthy, silly bit of fun!

  99. I have a feeling that this album is going to be HUGE. I am glad the record company let Adam have so much freedom on this because I think Adam really has done his homework and knows what he is doing. Imagine how many people are going to watch his performance at the AMA’s lol.

  100. This was an earlier tweet: have something very interesting for Adam planned!

if he does Oprah, I’m betting on the donorschoose delivery footage to be included on the show.

This is exactly the kind of thing Oprah and her audience/fans would eat up. I love the idea, jms!

  102. I forget the exact wording but Laura said that it was a ‘couldn’t be shown online’ kinda thing. Can’t figure out how that might be a hint but it struck me as being a bit odd. Perhaps we’ll find out whatever it is, before Tuesday, but ‘on air’. Are we supposed to be given something in the next couple of days; something that they would know about now … that they can’t talk about until later? Just thinking out loud here.

  103. I have a feeling that this album is going to be HUGE. I am glad the record company let Adam have so much freedom on this because I think Adam really has done his homework and knows what he is doing. Imagine how many people are going to watch his performance at the AMA’s lol.

I bet a lot of industry people will be watching too. They’ve been buzzing about him, writing about him, hearing about him. This will be like a huge audition to the world and questioning: “Will he live up to all the speculation?”

  104. from hollygo72 at IDF who was at AMA announcements yesterday
    more at http://idolforums.com/index.php?showtopic=629936&st=1020&p=21389676&#entry21389676

I was eavesdropping on one interview and she must have asked him about his living situation. He mentioned that he had a place and that it had lots of guest rooms for his friends and family to visit. He basically he was pretty much settled in (meaning he got a place. Not 100% sure but it sounded like he’s already bought a home).

My OTHER question I managed to get out was how many songs did HE co-write and with who. He said he co-wrote about 6 or 7. He wrote with Kara Dioguardi and he’s written a LOT with Greg Wells (who he’s been working with the past few days (out of like 24 or so).

He also said he has about another week of recording. And that after that, once they get all the masters then he and the label will get together and listen to what they’ve got and start picking songs.

  105. Did anyone notice how Adam answered the SNL question?

That would be cool. Nothing’s confirmed yet, but let me know when i’m booked.. cause i’ll… tell me where to sign…”

He answered the Gaga question slightly differently… “Again, tell me where to sign.. no offer’s been made.

The Gaga answeer was much more definitive than the SNL answer.. which was evasive and open ended.. although he’s pretty good at deflecting!!

I’m not saying SNL is the real deal yet.. all I’m dsaying is he chose his words carefully.

  106. I kinda dismissed the Laura Saltman clue yesterday after seeing that blurry picture. But after catching up on the posts you guys made me start to think again. The only thing I can come up with that can be thrown into the ring is that it may have something to do with Elton John. I have no basis for this, it is just a wild guess.

  107. Did anyone notice how Adam answered the SNL question?

I think the reason there seems to be a difference in the SNL question versus the Lady Gaga tour question is that he was asked about the Gaga tour rumor on Ryans show earlier so he was prepared with that answer but listening to his answer on Ryan’s show he sounds just as …reflective as he does when he answers the SNL question in Saltmans interview.

  108. OK, I’m vaguely remembering something I read during yesterday’s media — and thread storm. There was something about Adam having been given something he could hang up on his walls.

I may be completely bizzonculent (going with ‘crazy’ as a def. for this use) but does that sound familar to anyone… and could it be that Laura gives him something for his new pad in the super secret surprise coming next week.

    Reaching.

Yes. Of course I’m actually going a little nuts and looking for clues everywhere… :)

  110. Also, I am trying to think of the last song I heard that made me laugh. LOL

    [attention whoring mode]

Anyone want to make my day by casting a vote for ‘The (Alien) Immigrant Song’ ?”

Sure, honey. you got my vote for that!

  111. hiya.I’m running on 2 hours of sleep last night so I might not hang here that long.plus my moms home.

    I think I’ll wait 4 the surprise,or I’ll be dissapointed…

  112. I don’t think the surprise is Adam’s album cover, because on TWoP someone said the Japanese lady who was doing the artwork just tweeted today about finishing it. Plus, he doesn’t have a title…at least not yesterday when Laura did the interview.

FUKO (the Art Director for Sony Music) tweeted today (in Japanese) at 9:30 PM EST that she finished the rest of
“Adam’s work” finally and that it didn’t take as long as she thought. Hope the artwork is OTT like Adam wants.

  113. new Adam tweet

adamlambert @Neilambert less than 20 seconds ago

    thanks god i love Neil

  114. also 7 mins ago Adam tweeted “new work” an a picture of drake’s artwork

  115. Laura said the last portion of the interview couldn’t be released because it was embargoed until Tuesday. That says to me that it is date sensitive info — which could be:

    1. A magazine related item. Could it be about a magazine cover? Possibly US magazine – or EW?

    2. A media event — possibly something to do with NBC which produces Access Hollywood.

    3. Something to do with Adam’s album or 2012 TfM promotion that his PR folks gave to Laura so Access Hollywood would get an exclusive — but embargoed it until 10/20/09.

Based on the FUKO tweet, I don’t think it is the album cover.

  116. Thanks so much for bringing this over, I love the interview.

Interedting that Adam says his biggest fear is falling into obscurity.
    Adam? Fat chance of that.

ITA, of course. I’m seeing an Aerosmith trajectory (okay, a bit premature, but I DO expect things, at least in Israel :)).

That’s one of the best interviews I’ve read (although the author is a fangirl, SHOCK), b/c she asked some different questions. I noticed SNL was mentioned…Diet Jew. HA HA HA Tell me about it. ;) So nice that she asked about his mom, dad and grandparents. LISTEN UP, REPORTERS. It’s not JUST about the music. It’s about the person (and not just not who said person is dating and kissing, EITHER).

ETA: IMO, Adam looked surprised that Laura Saltman was holding out on him and us. ;) I doubt she has insider info, but I am sure it is info Adam we don’t know and Adam doesn’t know she knows, if that makes sense. ;)

  117. Adam wanted to come off as a rock god on AI

Adam has frequently commented that he is thrilled to be living his dream of becoming a rock star. However, I’m not totally sold on that being the way he originally was trying to portray himself on AI. He did receive plenty of positive feedback in that direction, especially from Kara and Randy. I personally feel he was trying to show ALL aspects of his vocal range and capabilities, including style. He was definitely the most diverse of all the contestants.

I have some friends who commented on Adam’s “screeching” during some of his performances. I defended this by saying that Adam had only 90 seconds to show what he could do vocally with a song. Let’s face it, these guys have a minute and a half to showcase their abilities. That “screeching” would not seem as such with the longer (normal) version of a song. That’s why the studio versions were more polished, although I love seeing Adam perform! If I had to choose, I probably would rather watch Adam perform for 90 seconds than listen to a longer studio recording!

  118. Q3

Oooh, I like this guess! Maybe posing with Oprah on her magazine… j/k, j/k…

  119. Sunn I hope you see this, because I have noticed some comments have a habit of being ignord. I saw your tweeter, somebody say something of lehomme is it me Sunn?

  120. I’m with you luv, i think I will wait to be surprised. Only days away from new music. I’m kind of on information overload right now sort of feel like I still have a hangover from the Adam party yesterday.

Does anyone think that the TfM video will be available for viewing online or available for purchase or do we wait until MJs movie to see it?

  121. dhunken: Here is an article in Jewish Journal on Adam that is really good:

    http://www.jewishjournal.com/hollywoodjew/item/adam_lambert_the_jewish_mother_interview_20091014/

Look at the bottom for the transcript of the actual interview.

That is one of the best Adam tour interviews! Especially for all of the Jewish mom Adam fan like me!
The publicist introduces me to Adam. (Like Barbra Streisand in Funny Girl, I’d like to say, ‘Hello, Gorgeous.’ But I am trying to maintain some sense of professionalism.)

dhunken, thanks for posting. To quote Barbra Streisand from SNL’s Coffee Talk with Linda Richman (Mike Myers): “Now, I’m getting verklempt! Talk amongst yourselves.”

FYI: verklempt is Yiddish for “choked with emotion”.

  122. Just very well will chek tomorrow bonne nuit! It is now middle of night here.

  123. dhunken: Here is an article in Jewish Journal on Adam that is really good:

    http://www.jewishjournal.com/hollywoodjew/item/adam_lambert_the_jewish_mother_interview_20091014/

Yes, thank you for posting. It was so pleasant. I could picture and hear the whole thing in my mind down to Adam’s vocal inflections (yea I know) and the motherly jewish voice. I can see her sneaking the RS out from under her notes, so funny.

Some day Adam’s life would make a great movie. :)

And adamaloha, you are not reaching. He reeeally wants to be on SNL and we want it for him. It will very likely happen, all in good time.

  124. Funny how the French I learned in high school seems to have been all spelled wrong…

    Anyhew,

dhunken, thanks for posting. To quote Barbra Streisand from SNL’s Coffee Talk with Linda Richman (Mike Myers): ‘Now, I’m getting verklempt! Talk amongst yourselves.’

LOL, now that voice won’t leave my head! But the interview was cute, and I love how she pointed out what we’ve commented on before, how Adam gives his undivided attention to the person he is speaking with, making them feel like they’re special. A lovely trait!

  125. I am a Jewish mom Adam fan, too, Q3. I just forwarded this fabulous article to my own mom. BTW, she is a huge Adam fan, too!!! :)

You are way too funny, Q3! I love it!! :)

  128. On a shallow note, in this interview with Laura, I’m esp. charmed by this hairstyle, parted to the other side. It flatters his face-shape and shows off his better side (the side with the smoother skin). I love all his looks, but this may be my favorite, at least this week. :-)

By the look on Adam’s face, it didn’t seem it was a news-type of surprise. The look was more like, what are you going to spring on me?

    Maybe it’s a giant inflatable kangaroo’ ¦

LMAO, maybe that’s why he looked so nervous —it’s baack!!

  130. I just love how when Adam talks about being excited a performance, he inevitably talks about his outfit.

He was a bit cagier about denying the SNL rumor than the Lady Gaga rumor. That would be a real coup. David Cook was on SNL last year and it apparently really miffed the Daughtry fans because he’s never been on SNL.

  131. OK, just my take on the upcoming Laura “surprise” . . .

Adding up what (we think) we know:
    1. Won’t (Can’t?) be announced till Tues, Oct 20
    2. Adam looks to side and seems to comment on (maybe) someone coming in
    3. Adam doesn’t know what it is and has already answered her questions (SNL, GaGa, etc) about the usual suspects
    4. In blurry picture Laura has something (flat) that she is reading/showing to Adam. (Handed to her by person who came in?)
    5. There have been comments about his house and something to put (hang?) in it
    6. There have been comments about it being newsworthy, but probably not that big of a deal.
    7. Access Hollywood has the (exclusive?) announcement

I’m assuming that she will be presenting him wth some kind of plaque/award (ala most popular RS cover) which might be for number of pre-album orders, or fasting rising CD or some such. They compile the figures for these things in advance, but don’t necessarily want them published until the following week — hence holding off to make the announcement official. Since Adam has so many accomplishments to choose from, it’s just a matter of qualifying how they want to “skew” it, i.e. “Fastest rising pre-sales for a CD called TBD for a runner up on AI without a single . . .” or whatever. The trick isn’t to fnd out what it’s for, but by whom it’s given.

Laura is on Access Hollywood which is a division of_____under the umbrella of _____ managed by _______ which is affiliated with X music distributor is probably the way to go. If we narrow down the 6 degrees of separation between AH and someone who can (and wants) to give Adam an award, I think we can probably figure it out.*** (Imma finish now and turn the mike over to Q3, SuperResearcher!)

*** Or we can wait till Tuesday.
