Headlines: JAX, Lauren Alaina, Melinda Doolittle, Adam Lambert

After cancer battle, N.J. ‘Idol’ Jax is stronger than ever on debut album – “I didn’t want it to be a song about cancer,” she says. “I wanted it say ‘here’s a song, take your story and relate and connect with it the way you need to.’ I want it to bring light to people, and for it to be cathartic the way writing it was for me.” To those who have followed Jax, and knew about her illness last summer, “Stars” may be the most predictable track off an album that is otherwise far removed from the music she performed on “American Idol.” – Read more at NJ.com

‘American Idol’ alum Melinda Doolittle: ‘I’ve achieved everything I’ve ever dreamed of’ – She will join three other artists on stage at the Preston Fine Arts Center at 7 p.m. Friday (Feb 3). Those artists include Kris Allen (Season 8), Janelle Arthur (Season 12) and Joshua Ledet (Season 11). Musical director Michael Orland will also be joining them. “We all know and love each other, and I don’t think any of us will want to leave the stage after the night is over. Anyone who has been on Idol will agree that it’s like a fraternity, even if we are from different seasons,” Doolittle said. “We are all bringing a piece of ourselves and bringing it all together in one show. We’re going to be singing backup for each other, and make it a show that really revolves around community because we are all fans of each other.” – Read more at The Gleaner

Trent Harmon – Checking in with Mississippi’s American Idol – Right after we completed everything with Idol, we wrote a song (There’s A Girl) and completed a music video for it in Nashville. Then we set up a radio tour where we visited every radio station in the format. Sometimes we played a concert, sometimes it was just a dinner. Now that single, There’s a Girl – that namedrops Tupelo – sits in the Top 25 now and is moving to the Top 20. That was pretty much all of 2016 in a nutshell. The radio tour was about 30 weeks. Every day even Saturday and Sunday. We flew and drove having three or four shows on some days. If a city had five stations you’d try to hit all five. I even got to perform at the Grand Ole’ Opry when I had one Saturday off. – Read more at the Clarion Ledger
