Ahead of tonight’s CMA Awards, the BMI Country Awards took place in Nashville, Tennessee last night (Nov 7). BMI, a clearinghouse for songwriters, composers and publishers, handed out awards to the songwriters and publishers of the most-performed country songs of the past year. In addition, country superstar Keith Urban was presented with the BMI Champion award for his work supporting the next generation of songwriters and music makers.
On the list of 50 top songs was Lauren Alaina’s No. 1 hit, “Road Less Travelled.” The American Idol season 10 alum has also been nominated for CMA New Artist of the Year and is set to present at tonight’s ceremony. For a full list of winners head on over to BMI.
